Big 12 is going to rise like a phoenix.

I spoke with a guy today who is a Alumni at USC. We started talking football and the possibility of no football. He thinks if the Big 12 plays this year and the PAC doesn't it will be the end of the Pac as we know it with USC and the Arizona schools leaving the Pac for the Big 12. He says the USC alumni are pissed and want out badly. The talk is the Big 12 with their revenue model is Ideal for USC to really make a killing there. The Arizona schools are sick of being bossed around by the liberal Cal contingent of the conference. In short the southern schools are sick of being pushed around by the northern schools.

My friends in LA and Scottsdale are saying the same thing. However, my take is USC is using the Big XII as leverage to (a) sell the PAC-12 Networks to a real Network (ESPN, Fox, CBS, NBC); and (b) provide USC with increased cash flow. USC doesn't want to face Texas and ou year in and year out in most sports.

The Arizona schools want out and into the Big XII, but the PAC-12 will not agree to tear up all of the contractual obligations for fear that Utah and Colorado (I don't know why anyone would want Utah) will walk also leaving them with an 8 team conference that no one wants to join. That would leave the PAC-12 having to fill with at least 2 from the Mountain West (which is the wrong side of the tracks for the PAC-12).

I love this stuff. When people make bad choices there should be fallout. There's alot of dumb things going on in our country right now, and a lot of things that aren't the way they should be.
I love watching stuff that isn't good to begin with get blown up.

Arizona must be looking at my charts and shaking their head. Imagine if they delayed season until Oct 1? I think antibody treatments will be approved by then. Plasma approved over the weekend will reduce deaths rates by 20-30% alone. What happens in the Spring when the players refuse to take vaccines? Cancel again? Madness.

There is a block of wealthy, powerful USC alums, who still are angry about the late 80s failure. While some may think they don't want to face Texas & OU, the USC alums I know would prefer that to Oregon & Washington, because the Big XII would be "daytime TV" versus the PAC being "midnight TV". They are all big conservatives, none of whom appreciate the Berzerkley liberals.

At one time it was thought that UCLA would move, but their affiliation with Berzerkley has left them as an after thought for athletics.

I am not a fan of adding the Arizona schools unless Bowelsby can pull off a TV contract like Delany cut for the BigTen, when they got credit for "available TVs" rather than "watchers'.

Where there’s smoke, there’s fire. If ever there was a time for the unexpected, this would be it. USC would be my dream addition...

But, I’ll believe it when I see it.

I want to meet your friend. Unfortunately, I have lost contact with the few USC Alumni I knew.

I think the AZ schools would be good, but I'm not for adding CA schools. Neg me if you want, but having traveled that route on business all the time and being exhausted after every trip it's just too damn far and too many time zones for the student athlete.

The Huskers are a bunch of whining ********, but I would love for them to come back to the B12 (and some are talking about just that on their message boards). We just need to promise not to kick sand in their face again.
