lots of games on TV although I'm going to miss about half of the A&M -Nebraska and probably all of the OU-OSU games due to visiting a friend recovering from surgery.Saturday, 02/06/10
A&M at Nebraska at 12 PM on FSN
OU at OSU at 2 PM on FSN
Colorado at Baylor at 7:30 PM

Sunday, 02/07/10
Tx Tech at Texas
at 1 PM on ESPNU
KSU at Kansas at 1 PM on Metro
ISU at Missouri at 3 PM on FSN

Nebraska up 36-26 with 3:00 to play.

whistle happy refs (against A&M). Neb has shot 13 FTs, A&M has yet to shoot a FT.

credit to Nebraska's pressure defense....A&M is completely out of sorts on offense. A&M's not really running plays. many times they've had to rush to beat the shot clock buzzer. they need Colson to be healthy again...she's a big part of their offensive cohesion.

yeah she has a stress reaction. Brenda V talked to Coach Blair after half-time and he said he wasn't planning to play Colson in this game, but they needed her.

aggies made a run, but Nebraska was too good at the end of the game. A&M stepped up the defense and tried a zone in the 2nd half, that was actually surprisingly effective against the Huskers....they can light it up from BTA, but were pretty cold in the 2nd half against the zone.

crazy stat from the game....free throws

Neb: 16-21
A&M: 1-2

If Coach Blair put Colson in knowing she had a stress reaction, I'd recommend he be fired on the spot.

I suspect there is more to this than we have heard. This report isn't consistent with what I know about Blair.

injury info

why should Blair be fined? basketball players play through injuries all the time...it's just a part of the game. it's not like he forced her into playing, i'm sure she wanted to play, too. stress reactions require rest, but unfortunately there isn't a lot of time to rest that kind of an injury during the conference season.

My thought is the stress reactions can turn into stress fractures which would be season ending. I don't think that I would put that player in under any circumstances until the stress reaction stops reacting. I do see players playing under the same circumstances - I think Mulkey playing Jones against us, is another instance of using a player before the injury has healed.

With Jones, she played in the game before ours. In addition, she rested for several weeks before playing, which apparently still wasn't enough. With Colson, she was out one game. I didn't like his reasoning that they needed her so he put her in. That's doesn't seem like keeping the player's best interest in mind. I would have thought that Blair would have been thinking long term or at least making sure that she was healthy for the NCAAs rather than getting one win, which they didn't anyway. So, did playing Colson cause her to delay her full recovery? Interesting to hear what aggie fans think about this.
