What is going on on the front of the brim? A deflated football?

i have seen more subtle Georgia O'Keeffe paintings than that hat.

Man those are ugly. Makes you wonder if Al Davis talked the Big 12 into buying some of his crappy cap inventory. Would be a shrewed move on his part though since I doubt the Raiders will be needing championship caps any time soon.
