Just curious if anybody out there could offer a suggestion on a good place to go check out a bunch of bikes and get some good help/advice from the employees. Thanks in advance.

Richardson Bike Mart carries most all major brands, has a huge store up near UTD, and has knowledgeable staff. They have a smaller store near White Rock Lake.

Go toThe Link for more.

The Richardson WRL store p'd me off a few years ago- dropped by the store- picked out a new mountain bike- and was supposed to have the bike assembled/ ready to go for me in a few days.

Guy I was dealing with never called back to say the bike was ready- and, when I finally got ahold of him - he didn't really seem to care about my business. So, I went up to Plano Cycle and bought the same bike - better service and the bike turned out to be actually cheaper. (Haven't been back to RC- so, I'm not sure if this was simply an anomoly- I'm guessing it was based on other reviews I've read- but, they lost out on my sale).

I have also had good luck with the folks at Wheels in Motion at Greenville/ Lover's Lane- and Bicycles Plus in Snyder Plaza for tires/ repair parts/ fixing spokes/ etc.

I've bought bikes from Richardson Bike Mart and Plano Cycle. Both were equal in service and price more or less.

Plano Cycle had a better selection in-house at the time it appeared.

There is a Performance Bicycle in the SouthWest corner of Central Expressway & Walnut Hill where the old Larry's Shoes used to be.

Performance Bicycle is a national chain that has a fairly good selection of low to middle Name Brand bikes. I bought their store brand (Scattante) Carbon Fiber Framed road bike a few years ago with Ultegra components. Their stuff is made in the same factories as a ton of other bikes.

Here's the Dallas info:

i like a smaller shop. bike works on Skillman and Abrams next to GNC. small store, always know your name.

i definitely prefer plano cycling to RBM. i have had some bad repair work done at RBM on several occasions.

another big vote for plano c&f, i actually just ordered a cannondale super six...will be here in a few days!!!

the guys at rbm are pompous, f that, don't make it hard to spend money. plano c&f is big enough to have great pricing and selection, but it still has a small feel.

ask for jessie, homeboy was great to buy from.

I bought my last two bikes from RBM and had a good experience with the sales staff and service crew. Only problem is that I feel that thet oversell and overcharge you on service and repair. I needed work done that was quoted at $300 at RBM and had a quote of $100 for the same work at REI.
