As I burn the midnight oil I'm spinning an eclectic bunch of old CDs and I just heard Judy Collins sing Amazing Grace. Offhand, I cannot think of a better version...but maybe I'm missing the boat. Any nominations for the best Grace of all?

P.S. I just now read the thread started by lostman about Songs That Bring Tears, where he mentioned the bagpipe version...that'd have to be in the top 2 or 3.

I'm not sure if you like country music, but for me its the Leann Rimes version. Her voice is absolutely amazing. I agree the bagpipe version if great, but its the version you always hear.

Maybe not the best version, but it's the best I've heard by a two year old.

Btw, I love the Judy Collins version. The voice of an angel.

If you've never heard Aaron Neville close out a Neville Brothers show with his a capella version of "Amazing Grace", then you've mised the best version ever.

The Longhorn Band at A&M was great because of the emotion but so was the bagpipe player walking away into the fog at Payne Stewart's funeral.

I use "Amazing Grace" in my HS History class while teaching about slavery. Amazing story of John Newton for those who are not aware. Anyway, I use the Charlottte Church version for my class. Very, very good.
