Best Texas Coastal City for families

What is the best Texas Coastal town to take your family for a low-key weekend with a 3 year old and a baby?

I've been to Rockport numerous times but the last time I was there was maybe 10-15 years ago, but that place is on my list. I've also been to Padre (obviously, that won't work for this situation.) What can you tell me about other places? A hotel on the beach would be preferable.

Port Royal Condos at Port Aransas has a great pool. We've gone there every year since it was built and consider it among the best properties on the coast. Port A is very laid back, but there are still several decent restaurants, etc. Corpus is a short drive away if you want to take in more touristy activities.

We are staying at the Sandcastle in Port Aransas in June. Nice pool area, reasonable rates, and is on the beach.

There are restaurants in Port A that are better than "decent". The Pelican Club, The Venetian Hot Plate, Shells, Lisabellas are all top shelf. They are also expensive. You wouldn't want to take little kids to any but Lisabellas where the owners love kids. There are at least 8-10 other places that are pretty good. Port A is very laid back and your kids will be welcome at most places. The beaches in Texas get better the farther south you go. You must be on one of the barrier Islands like Mustang (Port A) or Padre to even have a beach. Oh, they have replicas of beaches in Galveston, Port O and Rockport, but they aren't really beaches.
