Coming to Austin within the next 3 weeks and want to know where are the best places to go swimming. I've been to Barton Springs a very long time ago (10 yrs or more). But can't remember where else we used to go swimming. Any suggestions?

Try Twin Falls. When there is water in it, there's always a good crowd. Also, Pale Face has some very nice coves.

If you don't mind a 3o minute drive, try the Blue Hole in Wimberley, dajacent to the baptish church. Cold water, but amazing scenery under hundred year old cypress trees.

There's a Blue Hole I believe in Georgetown which is also pretty cool.

i recommend barton springs pool. the water is something else and alot of green/grassy areas to set up. hamilton pool is something to check out (big sinkhole) and is nice when the waterfall is going but otherwise there is no grassy area to set up and the water isn't as good as at barton springs. and barton springs is bigger, colder, and closer.

another nice place is deep eddy pool off of lake austin blvd but i would go to barton.

Pace Bend County Park on Lake Travis

Take Hwy 71 West to County Rd 2322 and turn right. Follow the road till it deadends into the park.

As you enter the park, if you bear right, you will first come to "Paleface" cliffs. Some cool cliffs to jump off and rockclimb back up. The best part is if you fall, you just fall into water. The best spot is near the little island.

On the other side of the park (left at the entrance) is the Perdenales River confluence with Lake Travis. There is a series of coves that offer great swimming holes, more privacy, and several have cliffs as well.

It's also an easy place to car camp, if you are so inclined. As a side trip, stop by Hamilton Pool on the way out. Or continue out 71 to Krause (spelling?) Springs.
