Best Sunday Brunch Besides

Best new brunch is Lambert's. It's a little steep at $22/person (+ $6 for bottomless mimosas) but it is awesome. It's buffet with all of your normal brunch items like omlettes, etc. plus barbecue. They have brisket, ribs, and smoked prime rib plus all of the normal bbq sides and it's all-you-can-eat. When I went they also had a gospel band. I don't know if they have the band every Sunday, but it certainly added to the experience.

Sounds like a rip off of the Stubbs Gospel Brunch that has gone on for years.

Lambert's is my brother's restaurant - they book music every Sunday - gospel is usually once a month, mariachi and blues bands also play. You can check the website ahead of time to see who's playing. (Lambertsaustin.com)

I also like the Starlite brunch - reasonably priced (lots of a la carte stuff), great drinks. That room is quite nice in the morning.

If they vary up the gospel for other forms of music it is not a total hack of Stubbs, just partly. Stubbs does just gospel.

I like the idea of other music and will check this out. The food will likely be better than Stubb's.

Stubbs was the first I knew of in Austin, however. It is pretty successful for them. It was only a matter of time before somebody else did it. It makes sense. I am not knocking your brother for copying that idea and possibly even making it better.

Stubb's doesn't do all-you-can-eat prime rib.

Airport, does Lambert's cook their meat on site? I'm pretty sure they now have the best brisket within the city limit. That isn't hard to do, but I thought it was pretty good.

Thanks, Barnes. (Sorry everyone for bragging on my little brother.)

Yeah, it's all cooked onsite. It's kind of amazing the way they've made that part of downtown smell like BBQ. One thing they've done right is to buy really quality meat - they try to go for free-range and natural meat.

Another vote for Threadgill's gospel brunch. They have a solid buffet and the music is great. Oh yeah, the coffee was very good.

Is there any Sunday brunch (of a decent quality) that isn't $ 15.00 or more per person?

When my Dad came to visit about 5 or 6 years ago (back when we hosted the Sweet 16 & Elite 8), we hit up Stubbs & he had a great time. Music was the Bells of Joy.

Ive hit up the Nutty Brown Cafe brunch a couple times in the last 6 months. It wasn't that bad. Its near Dripping Springs and I want to say it cost a little under 15 bucks. Maybe 13.99 or 14.99. Its good I guess if you live towards that area...

Hickory Street has a good, affordable brunch with a New Orleans feel to it. Grits and grillades, etc.

I'm going to go with Threadgill's too.

It was very good the past couple of times.

As soon as I move back I'll try the other places.

I have had Nutty Brown, FSM and Threadgill's.

I saw that the new Iron Cactus at Hill Country Galleria has a brunch........ anyone try?

Its not sunday brunch w/o bottomless drink specials in my opinion...
I know Taverna has $1 mimosas and bellinis, someone mentioned lamberts had a special, are there any others?

Another vote for Moonshine, although its greatness has started to wear off.

The hippie in me loves Maria's Taco Express Gospel Brunch. I enjoy that atmosphere more than Stubb's... but it is not for everyone.

A lot of people like South Congress Cafe. I found it all right both times I went, but they seem to have a huge following.

Trudy's up north has a brunch buffet as well with all your standard fair plus fajitas and enchiladas. Nothing special... but an option nevertheless.

Frankly, no place satisfies me for breakfast as much as Kerbey Lane. One migas taco and one buttermilk pancake. I'm easy to please...

I think Hyde Park and East Side Grill both offer brunch menus, but I haven't been in a while.

Fonda San Miguel has a great authentic Mexican brunch.

That being said, it was ridiculously expensive. $110 for two adults + 1 bloody mary + 1 mimosa.

Unfortunately,

There doesn't seem to be any locations where you can find a DJ playing at Sunday Brunch. This is one of the only things I like about Houston.

South Congress Cafe is excellent, especially if you order the steak and eggs benedict- filet medallions, migas, and chipotle hollandaise on top of english muffins... yes, please. Also, brunch at Olivia is outstanding but expensive.

I heard that Sagra (an Italian place in the south Congress/south First area, I think?) has a good brunch, and they have 75 cent mimosas/bellinis. But I haven't been yet.
