Best Song In A TV Commercial

Nick Drake's Pink Moon was used in a car commercial years ago.

Young people are driving in a convertible through a beautiful moonlit night as the song plays. They arrive at their destination, a drunken, loud party. They back out of the driveway and continue with the pleasure of their drive.

First time I'd ever heard the song and a year later I heard it on the radio and tracked it down. It created, for me, an unforgettable ambiance that went perfectly with the theme and visual story of the commercial.

But I wax. VW Drake Ad

First one that popped in my mind is "You really got me" in the Nissan commercial with the characters like GI Joe and Barbie.

RV:

I'd never heard of Nick Drake before that commercial. The first time I saw it, I googled the commercial, found his name, and downloaded a ton of his music. That was a truly great commercial, and Nick Drake is now among my favorites as well.

Chevy Truck's use of Bob Seger's "Like A Rock" with the great Nick Vito slide guitar solo is pretty strong.

I can't find the link but there was a Saturn car commercial with assembly line workers. They're working and play air guitar to SRV's Crossfire.

The Nike "Leave Nothing" ads have had strong music, one featuring the theme from Last of the Mohicans and the other using a version of "The Ecstasy of Gold".

Absolutely agree on the Nick Drake song for the VW ad. Great song and great artist. Look up the Nick Drake story. A man haunted by demons but that also helped him produce wonderful music.

I'm not a big fan of the commercial, especially the chick "popping" in the front seat, but I love "Days Go By" by Dirty Vegas, in this Mitsubishi Eclipse commercial.

Is she were in my car and started that **** she's going to be walking in the next frame. Great song though.

I love Nick Drake. Especially "Place to Be."

The AT&T commercial out now plays "From the Morning." The commercial with all the streamers covering the cityscape.
It's another haunting catchy song with interesting chord changes.

YoLaDu's mention of Cadillac reminded me of this one, I think it first aired in the Superbowl in 2007.

The music is ""Punkrocker" by The Teddy Bears featuring Iggy Pop.
