Best Ryan Adams CD

I've heard some of his jazz (jazz meaning universal term for stuff) on the radio and dig it. I know I'm out of touch with music but I'm over 30 with two kids under two years old and don't have time to hang out at hooka shops and talk about the finer points of music philosophy. So please, spare me.

I'm trying to update my music collection and haven't bought anything in quite sometime. Generally I would say that 90% of all things on the radio sucks so please help me out. What's his best album or name a few that would get me started.

I would start with his old band, Whiskeytown. This album, to be specific:

Thanks for all your input. At least nobody was stupid enough to say Summer of 69 or Cuts Like a Knife. That's my stupid joke and I was waiting to pull the trigger on some moron stupid enough to use my dumb joke.

Out of the solo stuff, Heartbreaker.

But Whiskeytown is the best - think of what the Replacements would have sounded like had they grown up in the south and that's Whiskeytown. Stranger's Almanac is awesome but I still think Faithless Street is their best album.

I freaking love Easy Tiger... the first 5 tracks alone are phenominal, I could listen to them over and over. Picked it upon Yellow Vinyl for $11.99 at End of an Ear, total score!

Easy Tiger has seriously grown on me since it's release. It is aging well.

I'd probably start with Gold, then go back to Heartbreaker, then forward to Cold Roses.

Start with Gold and Heartbreaker together. Then go to Stranger's Almanac, Cold Roses, and Love is Hell. Then hit Pneumonia, Demolition, Jacksonville City Nights, and 29. After that, don't forget Easy Tiger and Follow The Lights. Buy Faithless Street next.

Then, and only then, buy Rock N Roll.

no he does not. I think he would say Heartbreaker or Whiskeytown but he will let me know I am wrong if I am. he lurks still occasionally.

Your answer is Whiskeytown, Heartbreaker, Gold, Cold Roses, JCN in that order.

RA has to be one of my top 3 if not favorite musician. I have been converting to the record collection over the past few months and relistening to stuff I really haven't visited in a while. If you go with Whiskeytown Stranger's Almanac, that is what really sold me on the group. That and his wild *** show at Tree's. Can't remember what year, 1998? BTW, if anyone was there, who was the opening band?

Don't forget Whiskeytown's last album, Pnuemonia. However, if you go with Ryan Adams, Heartbreaker has to be the one as it was his first real venture on his own and it grows on you with each listen. Easy Tiger for some reason was on repeat for about two weeks a month ago.

I would also google 'live music archive', should be the first option available. His live stuff with The Cardinals is amazing. Best part-it's free.

The Dallas show last year was awesome. Broke out "Come Pick Me Up," which he rarely plays, as well as "Wonderwall" and "Oh My Sweet Carolina."

Check out the 10-18-07 Houston show. It was very enjoyable. What is silly is I went to the Houston show when the Dallas show was about a mile from my house.

I guess i'm in the minority because I really like Love Is Hell Pts. 1 & 2

and

29.

I love Cold Roses and JCN as well. As far as the Whiskeytown days...Faithless Street anyone???
