Best queso and salsa in town?

As an lover of queso in Mexican restaurants, my girlfriend had some really great queso at Polvos this weekend. This questo had white cheese with chorizo and several types of different grilled peppers with cilantro. The salsa's were also very good. Evita's was the only place I've liked the salsas better.

In my opinion, the queso ranks second only to Fonda San Miguel's queso, but was 1/3 the price. Anyone have any favorites for queso and salsa?

We pretty much limit our Tex Mex intake to Chuy's, Hula Hut and Trudy's.

I'd like to get out and try some other places, but I am too damn lazy.

Of those three, I prefer the green salsa at Trudy's. I'm a verde sauce addict and it's pretty damn tasty.

We don't generally do queso, but the jalapeno ranch at Chuy's is really damn good.

I've been wanting to check out Fonda San Miguel. I will make a note to order some queso.

I, too, do not (currently) get out to a variety of establishments. But, I still have my all-time favorite of "Spinach Queso" at El Arroyo (5th Street location's always the best). It's a white cheese queso with bits of spinach. I HATE spinach, but I love this queso. The spinach is NOT a factor.

I recently had some REALLY good queso at Maudie's on Lake Austin Blvd (near Exposition). This particular queso had ground meat in it, and was outstanding!

Both of these restaurants are very reasonable price-wise.
