been a bit since I've been there and taking my wife for the weekend just to "get away" somewhere quiet and small

eating suggestions?

the cottage cafe is really good as well. they used to be on main, but i think they've moved. good wine list and fantastic crab cakes. everything else was nice too.

The best place in the area is Hill Top Cafe in Hill Top, Texas. It is seriously the only building in town -- a converted gas station. The food is outstanding, decent wine list, all with a great price.

Second Hill Top for a cool atmosphere and great food. It's about 10 miles outta town going towards Mason. I know you're going to be tempted to want to eat in town, because it seems like the right thing to do since you're there. Trust me, go to Hill Top.

#1 choice is the nest. 2nd option is bonterra. cotton gin, navaho grill are also good. had wine at cuvee, but didnt eat there. theres a cool martini bar across the street thats fairly new.

Fredericksburg Brewing Company.

They claimed a gold medal at the 2005 Great American Beer Festival Competition.

They were recognized in the Munchner-Style Helles beer-style category for its Hauptstrassa Hellest (Mainstreet Light).

It's their lightest lager and is pale-golden, delicate, and mild. It's a light, Bavarian Style Lager of the type made famous in the bier halls of Munich.

Goes great with the Kraut and Wienerschnitzel
