My vehicle inspection sticker has been expired since September 2001. I finally got a ticket by some *@!hole AP officer. Anyway, Im looking for a vehicle inspector who is not as strict. I think I have a small pin point hole in my muffler and I have 6 days to get my car passed so I can pay my $10.00 fine. Little help please!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The ticket was well deserved. (Im not disputing that!!) There was a lot of interaction of unprofessional behavior on the police officers part. Long story short, he accused me of trying to "duck" him. My office is in a residential neighborhood and me and my employees park in the back of the house. I told him "Good Morning" and he told me not to give him a "Warning" Oh the list goes on and on therefore he is a @#hole.

Yes my ticket was deserved!!!!!!! Thanks OB

Alan's vehicle inspection, it is on Lamar and ???, I think around 51st. It is hard to miss, since all it is a one car garage, but they are very easy when it comes to passing cars, mine failed one place but Alan passed it a day later.

Groovy Mechanics or whatever they're called on the corner of Red River and 41st (?) across from the HEB. I've been taking my car there for the past 3-4 years and it's usually done in 20 minutes. They passed it one year with my check engine light on.

alan's on lamar in front of mcdonalds (near koenig)
or texaco shop on airport and 47th/48th
pretty fast either place when i've gone

The Groovy Mechanics rock for any repairs.

Alan's at Lamar and the SE corner of North Loop are great for inspections. They don't do repairs, just inspections, so they have no motivation to tell you that loads of things need to be done before they'll pass you.

I'll vote for allans too, but about the muffler, I was there last month and saw him check the exhaust pressure on a car he was inspecting and sent this guy down the road to his buddy the muffler mechanic. If it isnt too noticeable dont sweat it, but otherwise he might get ya.

hey this could't have come at a better time for me. i took my car to Lamb's the other day and they came up with about $400 worth of stuff for me to get repaired on my car.

LonghorntheBody, i appreciate the good timing.

Great place.....Groovy Mechanics on Red River and 41st. It's been said before, but they'll get you in and out in about 20 minutes. I don't know about letting stuff slide or not, but they are quick.

Lousy place....Exxon on Lamar and Kramer Lane. A couple of years ago they flunked my now traded Lebaron convertible for a muffler... but did send me to his relatives muffler shop for "fast service". Bottom line was that there wasn't anything wrong with the muffler.

All in one service... Shreve Automotive off of Rutland. Great mechanics, friendly service. But don't go unless you've graduated and have a job paying around 70K. I don't seem to be able to go in there without paying 700 bucks every time. For an inspection with minor repairs I might not use them. But for major repairs, I trust them to do it right and stand behind it.
