Best place to get a flat screen

COSTCO- Buy the executive membership first and the 1% rebate will pay for half the card. Buy all you gasoline there and that rebate pays the other half of the Executive card cost.

everyone marks up their TVs 35-60%, best buy is not alone... its how their business works. Best buy has just as competetive prices, but carry mostly low end crap. I would go to Fry's, Home Theater Store, or Conn's before Best Buy. You'll get a better selection of quality stuff, with a sales guy that has about a 99% chance of knowing more than every person in the TV dept of Best Buy combined.

if you are buying from a brick and mortar store- you will pay more. You may find a better deal at Costco/ Sam's than at BB, CC, etc.- however, they sometimes have last years models- or slightly different model numbers- so it's sometimes tough to compare.

It has been my experience that if you do your homework, and find the sales- there is still always some room for negotiation (sony lcd I bought was at circuit city-- and was able to beat bestbuy/sears/conn's best deal by > 10%- and all prices were below the advertised sale price).

Checkout The Link for some takes on the different b&m stores/ mail order houses-- a lot of plasma buyers do the mail order thing with success (including buying from Dell).

Get in on one of the power buys atThe Link You can get some mad good deals there. I bought my Samsung HLP-6163 a year ago, shipped to my door for $3699, and got it 2 months before the set ever made it to the local Best Buy. When it did, Best Buy charged $4699 (+ tax). Saved about $1400 on it. I think right now they have the latest model 61" DLP sets at about $3k.

Tennessee - I am seeing the same JVC at B&H (an excellent online store in my experience) for $2,099. The Link

"One call" is one of those sites where you click the price for "today's price" - which they show as $2145.88 after you click it.

I use Froogle (a Google search engine) quite a bit. I buy most of my electronics online to save the state sales tax. With a flat screen, it will probably be a push, but online is usually cheaper.

Try Froogle.

Wow guys. Thanks. I will check those sites out.
