Best option for High Speed Internet and Television

We've been living in Dallas for a while now, and we're tired of paying a crapload for standard cable. We also are looking towards getting a DVR with whatever option we choose.

Right now we have Comcast cable and their cable modem, and we pay about $90/month.

Should we just upgrade to digital cable, or is satelite a better deal?

Should we stay with Comcast internet and then get go elsewhere for cable/satelite?

Thanks for the help.

I've seen SBC DSL for around $26/month -- is that an option?

As for television, I'd check out the Directv Tivo DVRs. They're about $50-$100 new, can record two shows at once, and the service (for up to 8 Tivos I believe) is only $5/month extra. The minimal Directv package w/ local channels is $40/month, but they do have the annual NFL Sunday Ticket promo where you get 4 months of the premium programming for free when you sign up for the NFL ST package. (You can drop the subscription to a cheaper package after 4 months.)

Satellite internet is NOT true broadband. It is ONLY for those who do not have any option other than dial-up. Upload is slow and the latency is terrible.

Bob Willis summed up DirecTV well except that you have to add $5 per month per extra receiver. I have 3 TVs so that adds an extra $10 per month, still cheaper than what I was paying for no DVR with Comcast. I did the NFL deal last year. I think new customers can now get the DirecTivo for $50 and it's totally worth it. I got in when they were $100 about a year ago. Satellite is the best option if you have other broadband internet available for cheap. I have SBC DSL.
