Best 'Near Austin' Restaurant

Been to the Salt Lick. So what else is there within an hour's drive of here? I know about Kreuz's and Mueller's but haven't been yet. Any other places anyone would suggest? (And not just BBQ places.)

Little Thailand out 71 past the airport. It's in Garfield, I think. Good Thai food and great Thai bloody marys. Very spicy.

Grist (sp?) Mill next to Gruene Hall, go when it's warmer and you can sit outside and listen to the music next door.

Dorsett 221, Buda- 24 hours a day...Chicken fried steak and eggs is the best around.

City Market, Luling- Best BBQ in central Texas IMO.

Gristmill, Gruene- Already mentioned before, but I have to 2nd that. Great place, food, location and atmosphere. Its also right next to Gruene Hall and you can usually catch a live band pretty much any time of day over there. Worth the drive.

I second the Blue Bonnet Cafe in Marble Falls.

Chicken fried steak and eggs with a shitload of biscuits is a hell of a way to start your weekend.

Absolutely AWESOME. The BEST chicken fried steak in or near town -- period. No debate. It beats all competitors like they were Baylor.
