Best Laptop?

I have been very happy with Sony Vaio. They are a little more expensive than most windows laptops, but they work great for me. I am on my third one over the last 8 years which I just got for $1,250. The last two have been problem free (the oldest one had heat issues if you left it flat which took me two motherboards covered under warranty to figure out). The only computer brand that I have had problems with is HP.

Check out Mr. Notebook if you're looking at ThinkPads. Many times they will have older discontinued models for very good prices or slightly used but still perfectly good notebooks. That's where I got my recently discontinued Z61 ThinkPad that still has the factory warranty. Of course, they also have good deals on other brands.

Outside Austin, they also have a branch in San Antonio, however a lot of their deals are on computers at the Austin location.

OK, I'm going to add a twist - what is the best notebook with the 10-key number pad. So far, all we've found is the HP and some Toshiba models. From responses here, the HP should be ruled out ...
