Anybody paying attention to Aledo RB Johnathan Gray? Over 1,800 yard rushing / 34 tds in the regular season. He's posted four games of 200+ yards. He's also caught 19 passes for 400 yards and 7additional tds. Please note that he rarely plays more than 3 quarters because the Bearcats have most games well in hand by then. You're familiar with his father, right? That would be former TT AA RB James Gray. He's 5-10, 180 and 4.4-4.5ish speed. Not sure if he even has his driver's license yet. They open the 4A playoffs Friday night at Justin NW ISD Stadium v. Little Elm. If you're in the area, he's well worth the ticket price. Have heard many comparisons to a certain Midland HS RB...Benson, I think is his name.

What a great athlete! When he was at Crowley Middle School, just south of Ft. Worth, he overwhelmed our team. Before any of us knew he was James Gray's son, we knew we were watching a special player and have kept track of him ever since. He was a very good player for Aledo as a freshman, too.

I just realized I had their game last week on the DVR and watched it today. That guy is absolutely dominant.

He may not be the best but Leander's Ricky Harper really has a chance to be something special. He's got solid size (6'0" 185 lbs) and division 1 speed. He had been splitting carries all year with sr returning starter Taylor Ratcliff and still managed over 800 yards rushing and 8.5 yards per carry (in a pretty respectable 5a district). He played so well in the playoffs, and has an older brother (or cousin, not sure) that plays rb for Boise st.

This kid is amazing. He has started sine he was a freshman at Aledo, a perennial DFW powerhouse 4A program. He is leaning towards UT or OU (see link). He is playing at DKR on Saturday for the state championship - hopefully the first of many games to come there. Wonder how the recruiting rules work, e.g. if Mack can talk to him this Saturday.

Another pretty good sophomore RB will be playing against Gray and Aledo Saturday - Troy Green from Brenham. This may be a very good game to watch at DKR Saturday.

My son and his wife drove down from Keller for the game because she works with one of Jonathan's parents and they assured me that UT is verrrry interested in him.

FWIW I sat 2 rows down from his family during the state championship game and 3 of his reletives (10-13 yo boys) all had Texas Longhorn Shirts or hoodies on. After the game I joked with his Mom about how good he looked on UT's field. She saw my Texas gear and just smiled. I told her he will probably have his choice but he looks good here.
