Best Grass for Houston

Not the cheeb, which we all know is hydroponic, yo.

My next door neighbor's kids and crew have totally destroyed my St. Augestine with their football hijinks, and they are going to move to a vacant lot this Spring. I am seriously considering starting completely over on the grass front.

I get pretty good sunlight throughout the day and I will irrigate to whatever extent I need to.

"Best" means appearance and durability. Is it St. Aug? If I am going to start over, what should I do for the soil? Any recs on who to hire for this?

I like St Augustine because it rebounds so well. Its prone to diseases but can recover well if teated at first sign of trouble (brown patch, bugs, etc). Everything else I've seen seems to dry up and blow away by mid summer.

I resodded with cavalier zoysia grass 2 years ago, and could not be happier. I easily have the best looking lawn on the block year around, and I am not very good at caring for these things. Doesn't take a whole lot of water, and really holds up well to the hot summer, and cooler weather.
