Best exterior paint for my house?

Going to have my house painted this week and I am trying to decide what brand/type paint to use. Consumer reports says "California 2010" is the best, but I can't find it anywhere in Dallas. (don't think they sell it here) I hear Sherwin Williams Duration and Sherwin Williams Superpaint is good. Any recommendations out there for me??

Thanks!

I've always gone with Consumer Reports' highly rated paints and have never been disappointed. I've used SW Superpaint on the house exterior and it held up very nicely. Even the painter commented that it was nice to use a good paint since apparently most people use cheaper paint. I'm planning to repaint soon and will probably use it again. In any case, you're wise to invest in top-rated paint, even if it's more expensive, because the labor to apply it is the same and you'll get longer life and better protection for a modest incremental cost.

Both of those lines of Sherwin Williams paints should serve you well and are a little less expensive than Pratt and Lambert which is supposed to be the be all, end all to paints.

I worked @ SW for 3.5 years & their SuperPaint is very good. The Duration line is newer, but I've never actually used it.

I've had good luck with Sherwin Williams. It is a little expensive although I get a discount off of the sale price.

i will recommend Pratt & Lambert paint and a good painter; one who preps the surface properly and then applies the paint by hand as opposed to with a sprayer.

Given Behr's strong historical performance in interior paints, I wouldn't go that far...

Also, I used Dulux Fortis series paint (ICI is parent company - also owns Glidden). Came highly regarded. Quality of painter is almost if not as important as the paint selection.

Well shoot. I hope I didn't use some off-brand named "Baer".

Behr lost a multi-million dollar defect several years ago for defective exterior stain. Pacific northwest IIRC

Well, I decided to use Sherwin WIlliams Superpaint. It looks great right now, but we'll see in about 10 years. I'll reply back to this post in 10 years and let y'all know how it looks then.
