Best Driving Range

I've gone to Golfsmith for awhile now but I'm looking for somewhere maybe closer to me and maybe a better deal. Where do ya'll go around here?

That's a good question. The two best I've been to are the Hank Haney ranch off Mopac just north of 183 and the old reliable Oak Hill driving range. I also go to Lions a lot and hit balls there, but it's a no woods range. But at least that makes me practice the short game more. Someone needs to put a good range in Central.

I belong out at Great Hills, so I go there a lot, but other than that I agree with cbs, Hank Haney's place on Mopac at the Braker (?) exit, just north of 183 is a good range. Usually they have good grass, because they move the teeing area around a lot.

The only one left in South Austin with lights is Oak Hill. It's ok, but it seems like I'm either hitting out of 2" long grass or no grass at all. I'll drive to GS or HH if I have time.

The range at Kizer/Clay is usually alright, but it's only open till dark.

I used to work at the Oak Hill Range last year. Fun Job, but re-planting grass was a ***** 'cause all you guys took out 10 inch deep divots lol.

Thanks for the input. I think I'll be checking out Hank Haney's as I live in the Arboretum.

Hank Haney is the only public stand alone driving range worth a damn in Austin.

However, if you go out to Teravista or Star Ranch and hit balls at their range, you won't be dissapointed (but you will have driven a ways)

Went to hit at Oak Hill last night. Should have a hell of a game if I ever get in trouble in the bunkers because dirt was all there was to hit off of last night......******.

Hank Haney is the best, but you pay for it. Almost $10 for a medium bucket of balls. But, they have a great chipping and putting area.
