I'm a new Costco member and would love some tips on Costo's best deals and/or items. I did some brief shopping but it was a bit overwhelming on Day 1. My first impression was that there weren't THAT many great deals, but I'm hoping I overlooked them.

i love their rotisserie chickens, they are 5 bucks and the best ive had. great deals on wine. i bought a huge cooler there, one of those big ones that usually cost around 60-80 bucks for about 40. i like their fish department, ive bought lobster and crab there really cheap. im not a fan of the meat dept. the fillet's have a lot of fat on them but i would buy a brisket there if i was going to smoke it. good electronics and tv's for good price. ive bought a few things that they rotate in every month. different furniture pieces, appliances, etc. cheap gas....i mostly buy my drinks there..bottled water, soft drinks, etc.

I like to get the Boneless Leg of Lamb, I think its $4.50 a pound and most are between 4 and 5 lbs. It's excellent for either grilling or roasting.

Might not apply to you, but their baby formula is much cheaper than major brands, and it's also the only formula either one of my children actually liked and were willing to drink.

Yes, I peformed a highly scientific double-blind taste test.

UTEE is correct, and while my boys won't drink their formula, diapers and wipes in of themselves can pay for your membership.

diapers, we were going to go that route, but my recollection was that we didn't because they don't sell pampers, which just fit and worked better for our boys than huggies and others.

The thing with Costco is that if you have brand loyalty to something, it might not always be a good fit.

YoLaDu, that is correct they don't sell pampers just Huggies and their own brand. We also use Huggies which they do carry at Sam's.

If you like Jelly Beans they have a 5 lb tub of Jelly Belly for $10.

Their choice grade briskets turnout consistently great on the smoker.

Kirkland AAA and AA batteries are cheap and apparently made by DuraCell. Have never had one leak that I can recall.

Flowers are fresh and cheap.

Although the selection is limited, designer label clothes are often a bargain.

Books.

The Kirkland Organic Salsa is very good and cheap.

Lots of great deals on frozen fish, chicken, and other items in the coolers and freezers.

OJ, cereal, fresh-roasted coffee (if you freeze what you can't use within a week or two max), milk, eggs, fruit, veggies, etc.

Tires and batteries. Wait for the $70 off a set of tires coupons. They can order tons of tires that they don't stock. It's convenient to get your tires rotated while you shop.

As mentioned, the roasted chickens, the fresh chicken salad (from unsold roasted chickens), fresh baked pizzas, good cheese selection, fresh seafood, etc.

Custom cakes and other bakery items.

Keep shopping and watch the monthly coupons for even more savings.

Their AmEx card is also a good deal. The cash rebate I get annually is amazing.

Rogue by the case for $24 dollars, good wine selection, 72 Bagel Bites for $9, and Costco sized Jelly Bellys.

Pickled artichoke hearts
lettuce
brisket
chocolate covered biscotti sticks
nut bars
occasionally monitors, computers, blu-ray players, printer paper

"Oh yeah, their bakery is really good. At least as good as HEB, and less expensive. "

I guess you have never had any bakery products from Randall's! HEB's bake goods are low quaility.
