Best credit card perks

I have a card which gives cash back, 1% to 5% depending on purchase, no annual fee. I think it is a good deal, however, I am thinking about getting one with frequent flyer deals.... which is the best??

On frequent flyer, think about where you want to fly. Collecting Southwest miles will not do you any good if you are trying to get to Europe. Check out all the frequent flyer programs. My brother-in-law has about three airline cards, and he uses which ever he needs for his next trip.

Flyer Talk is a great site for tons of info. Have used it every once in a while looking for deals.

We have had a Visa card through Chase that gives Continental Miles (1 per dollar) for a number of years now. We put literally everything we can on the credit card and have gotten several free tickets out of the deal over the years. There is the element of "sticker shock" the first bill you get where everything is on it. But at the end of the year we get an itemization of all our purchases and it is interesting to see where it all goes.

Since we are in Houston and travel mostly to Chicago, Tampa, St. Louis, and LA; Continental made the most sense for family flying. Mr Lostman also flies SW with his work and gets their points as well. We use those points for flights to Phoenix or Seattle to follow softball.

With the Chase card, the miles don't expire, just the points towards "Elite status" which we never get anyways. We also roll Mr Lostman's AMEX points over to Continental's FF program.

If you are looking for FF miles then decide what airline you use the most and go from there.

Haven't looked into this to find out what airlines are involved, but Wells Fargo has recently started offering airline miles on their debit cards. For those of you that use that for most of your purchases, this is your way to do it without having to switch to paying a huge cc bill every month.

American Express has a platinum card that will give you a companion airline ticket for every international ticket you purchase with the card. The annual fee is around $350.

Some restrictions apply.
