Here's a question for those of you who actually live in the area or are lucky enough to enjoy the live music. What local bands seem to be packin the house these days.

I know before I moved east in 98 there were names like Sister Seven, Vallejo, Storyville, and The Scabs (are they still together or not?) to name a few. I know Sister Seven isnt together anylonger, although Patrice is still goin isnt she?

Just curious, I take pride in my collection of austin artists, and I am always looking to add to it. Any names I need to look out for?

The Scabs still play, but its pretty rare. I think they got a show coming up at Antones. Vallejo is still around, but they dont play nearly as often. Los Lonely Boys jam...if your into the Santana type stuff or blues stuff you def need to check them out.

Thanks for the heads up, ill check them out. Went sniffing around, looks like the scabs have a couple shows coming up at antones. Kinda late to schedule an emergency flight to austin to catch one of those shows. the wife would have a fit.

Sister 7/Little Sister = awsome
Patrice without that Darryl (bass player) and Wayne (guitar player) = ok, but if you have ADD, you won't stay long.

Yea, isnt she doing the black box rebellion thing now. Her aunt use to live across the street from me when i lived in georgetown, she turned me on to their toons. I think at the time, they were actually Little Sister before they became Sister Seven.

So I would be able to stand the show if i dont have ADD? What about if i just self medicate?

Vallejo is doing a free show at one of the nicer apartment complexes in town tonight in about 20 minutes.

I dont like Vallejo. They are telented musicians, but they need to realize that they are not rock stars. Not ot mention my favorite part of the last album was MC Overlord rapping on Modern Day Slave.

kewl, have to check out podunk and pushmonkey. just got a feel for los lonley boys, they've got a really kewl vibe. Only song you can listen to on the site is heaven, very smooth song.

If you haven't gone and seen Scott H. Biram you are doing yourself a disservice. Weekly at the Parlor (a great punk dive bar and pizza joint) and Club DeVille.
