Best book read in 2013?

I'll admit that I don't keep up with the latest best sellers.

With home field advantage my winner this year is Empire of the Summer Moon, thought I'd concede that Unbroken probably has the strongest research and craftmanship among books I read in 2013.

As far as racy fiction, I discovered The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo Series. Ripping through those novels was a lot of fun.

Why We Get Fat and What To Do About It by Gary Taubes.

I’m big into diet and nutrition now. Great book on the science behind a low carb/high fat diet, and the many healthful benefits for metabolic disorder, diabetes, obesity and other issues.
