My sentimental favorite is "Helter Skelter" by Motley Crue only because when i owned "Shout At The Devil" it was played in my cassette deck about 5 hours a day. I really did like Soundgarden's "come together", though.

Don't Let me Down" performed by the Sterophonics

followed closely by Joe Cocker performing 'She csme in through the bathroom window"

Well, my recommendation is not technically about Beatles songs, they're John Lennon songs; but there is a CD out there that some of you might enjoy.

It's called Instant Karma, Save Darfur.

The funds apparently go to Amnesty International.

There are songs on the CD covered by U2, REM, Lenny Kravitz, Jackson Browne, Jakob Dylan, Aerosmith, etc, etc.

Instant Karma

The songs all cover Lennon tunes. It's cool.

Always loved EW&F's version of "Got to Get You Into My Life", they made that one their own.

If you get a chance, pick up "Meet the Smithereens", a song-for-song, note-for-note cover of "Meet the Beatles". It kicks all kinds of ***. (OT, Smithereens one of the most underrated bands of all time...)

"I am the Walrus" - The Fab Faux

I heard about these guys on NPR. They're a beatles tribute band, but not like the others. They don't dress up to look like the fab four. There specialty is playing some of the more difficult Beatles songs live...most of their later stuff. They basically spend hours analyzing the tracks, then try to re-create. Pretty damn good.

"Strawberry Fields Forever" - Ben Harper from the I Am Sam soundtrack is pretty good.

Tomorrow Never Knows by the Dave Matthews Band is good.

Also, Soundgarden >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Aerosmith.

I actually prefer the Soundgarden version, but only because I like covers that are faithful to the original but sound different.

I just found this list, by the way. I can't believe how many artists have covered beatles songs:

The answer to this question is "I Am the Walrus" by Spooky Tooth. An awesome version of this song, and if you could hear it on a great sound system in a big auditorium with good acoustics, your mind would be blown. Joe Kruppa played it in the A.C. Auditorium one day for his English class on the importance of rock and roll-greatness.
Joe Cocker is right there as well, as pointed out, with "I get by with a little help from my friends/she came in through the bathroom window."

"With a little help from my friends" - Belushi as Joe Cocker, 1st season of SNL when he first came out I thought it WAS Cocker, but then I was in an altered state.

Cocker was damn good singing that at Memorial Stadium through a wall of speakers as big as godzillatron though.
