A great band just starting and doing great is Hallow, you might have caugt one of their shows at Stubbs, The Vibe, or Flamingo cantina. Previously named solaris. Please give me other insights to your favorite austin bands.

If you like alt-country music, I recommend Reckless Kelly. They are actually from Oregon but moved to Austin about five years ago before they got popular.

my favorite local bands include: slowreader, steamroller, trail of dead, okkervil river, lil capn travis, young heart attack, those peabody's, american analog set, recover, cruiserweight, impossibles, golden arm trio.

Alvin Crow and the Pleasant Valley Boys. Best C & W local act , ever. Still going strong after about 30 years.

The two bands I have not seen yet that I want to see are Del Castillo and Los Lonely Boys.

Los Lonley Boys are playing blues on the green Wednesday I think so I might try to catch them then so as to be able to skip them at the Austin City Limits Music Festival

Los Lonely Boys: Hands Down... i saw them saturday nite at Antone's and the show sold out within 45 minutes. this band is for real folks. for 3 guys it's amazing what they do. words cannot describe what i'm typing here. closest thing i've seen to SRV since he was alive. also thought Santana and Hendrix also walked into the room. see for yourself and let me know what you think.
rock on!

I saw Los Lonely Boys open for Willie Nelson last year. I thought they were great.

I also thought they were light years from SRV & Double Trouble. Let's not go overboard.

Saw Grady a couple nites back at the Continental. Hard to say of they're one of the best bands around at this point. But Layton, Gordie Johnson (ex of Big Sugar) and Big Ben Richardson put on a great show. They've only been on stage for about 3 weeks, but they've got a good, good thing going. Highly recommended.
