Beso, formerly Bevo's, formerly Jim's

This is the place that is where Jim's was on the IH-35 Frontage road, northbound. The new owners foolishly took the name Bevo's and UT is rightfully on their case. They changed the name to Beso.

Anyways, went in there today for breakfast and came away impressed. Interior is the same, just about but the food and prices were pretty good. I got Chicken Fried Steak, 2 scrambled eggs w/ cheese, hash browns and toast. Price was $6.95. The steak was not econo-sized either, it was a whopper and pretty damned good. Same w/ all the food others ordered and again, the prices are great.

Burgers are $4.95 w/ fries and usual stuff. Beers are a buck fifty from the signs I saw. Anyways, I had not seen this place mentioned anywhere. So if you are the mood for that type of fare, diner type, give it a try. I will go back and get something different and let ya know.

They are not open 24 Hours like when it was Jim's.

You forgot formerly Shoney's.

Damn I loved that breakfast buffet.

Naw, that special ended. Damnit. The one w/ the blue hair could have done my yardwork. They had a bridal sale the next week. You live right there, go and check it out and give input. That is an order.

It's formerly open.

Closed down over Christmas, and I never got to go there. Now I will always wonder "what if".

that place is a graveyard for restaurants. when i saw "bevo's" come up, i knew it wouldn't last. perhaps the worst decision was that "dick clark american bandstand" across the street. that wasn't here long at all.

There is also a Beso in Houston now, but it is a nice place that serves tapas. It is on Westheimer at the location that was formerly Armando's, Dish, 3 Chefs, etc. Very good tapas and I recommend going to all in Houston.

last time when i passed by there (last week?) the sign was off... or it was completely removed.. and i remember reading an article in the daily texan saying they had shut down because of 50k of losses due to the UT deal?

There was never really anybody in there to begin with but the lawsuit and fines did not help at all. Terriible spot if you want Highway traffic. You would need lots of signs telling people where it is and what exit to take. Even then, there is so much stuff before you get there it would be tough.

As mentioned above, that place is a graveyard for restaurants.
