Breathed is ending OPUS as of the first Sunday in November.

Some of his best work has been in the last year or two and I hate to see the cartoon go. Bill the Cat was certainly the best presidential candidate we have had in years and Steve Dallas captured the bottom feeding lawyer as nobody else has been able.

And OPUS. The greatest penguin in the history of the world----as we know it, anyway.

I'm confused how its ending? I mean his strip (Bloom County) ended once already and came back (Opus), why is this time more final?

While was on campus, he once did a lampoon of most every campus-click group at UT.
The Daily Texan (I guess he was on the papers' staff, dunno) made it an insert called 'spring campus fashion preview', or some such.
Incredibly hilarious, at least for my appreciation of humor. I still have it, wish I could digitize&upload it.

This may require a bribe of some sort.

Oh well, I still have all my Bloom county books. those ******* things kill me.

Comic genius.

He's carved out a pretty successful post comic strip career as a children book author/illustrator. I wonder if even only drawing Sunday strips, the grind and lack of creativity got to him again?

Between Academia Waltz and Eye Beam, The Daily Texan had two of the funniest comic strips ever during the late '70s - early 80s, and they were both home grown, right on campus. What ever happened to Sam Hurt anyway?

Eyebeam was great, especially when Hank ran for Student Body President.

A huge paper mache Hank showed up in the Littlefield Fountain one morning, it was awesome, and triggered my screen name

HA! I remember that. He actually won that election too. He beat a young Paul Begala, who came in a distant second. His campaign slogan was, "Vote for the candidate of your dreams"

Loved eye beam...I have almost all of the books....I wonder where I put them...

Anyone remember Realm of the Gone. It was short lived but generated the best editorials. It was another one that managed to piss a group off every day whereas everyone else loved it or completely didn't get it.
