Beowulf

[Third Coast]

I was pleasantly surprised after seeing this last night. I don't know a lot about the motion capture technology, but it looked pretty cool. I also thought the acting by the excellent cast was very good and the storyline while relatively simplistic, was compelling.

It's amazing that Jolie was paid a reported $8 mil for about 5-10 minutes of screen time, if that.

Also, upon investigating the cast details on IMDb, the realization of George McFly as Grendel really threw me.

I watched it on my 1080p front projector with a 92" screen and it was stunning. I can only imagine what the IMAX 3D experience was like.

After thinking about my previous comment, I don't think Jolie was in the film for more than a couple of minutes - at least in the directors cut version. Her computer enhanced self still looked pretty hot though.

Beowulf was a solid poster and a fine man, with a great dog.

I didn't get the hype about this movie. I thought it was flat-out awful. It would probably look good on HD, though. I can understand it being one of those discs you just want to have for the look and feel.

That "I am Beowulf" line reminds me of "This is Sparta!!" I'm sure it's part of the plot, but almost seems like a rip off.
