Ben & Jerry, Woke Again

Since it is the 2 of them you'd think one might have asked, " Is this the right time for this? Could it backfire?" But NO
"This 4th of July, it's high time we recognize that the US exists on stolen Indigenous land and commit to returning it. Learn more and take action now: https://benjerrys.co/46vrYu3"
So
"Members of an indigenous tribe who are descendants of Native Americans have reportedly expressed interest in taking back the land now occupied by popular ice cream makers Ben & Jerry's after the company made a controversial call for America to return "stolen" land.

Chief of the Nulhegan Band of The Coosuk Abenaki Nation, Don Stevens, tells Newsweek that his tribe is "always interested in reclaiming the land its headquarters ( Ben &Jerrys) sits on.
Still, the ice cream company has yet to contact them regarding the land its headquarters now sits on."

It's so stupid. B&J has always been hyper-woke - long before the term even existed. However, I would think that even they would be smart to see that this particular expression of wokeness is going to invite a suggestion they'd never accept. They're just asking to look like self-righteous hypocrites.

The wife and I tried B&J many years ago and came to the same conclusion. Blue Bell is cheaper and better. We now realize, Blue Bell is less pretentious and less hypocritical. Go Blue Bell.

When we first moved to Texas from California, everybody raved about Blue Bell and how great it was. They were clearly proud of it. It's mediocre. Not bad but nothing to rave about. (Californians do the same thing with In-N-Out Burger.)

It's the Farrah Fawcett of ice cream.

Ok Deez, you can disagree, but we like Bule Bell and Farrah Fawcett was hot. Case closed.

I can clarify. Blue Bell is good if you compare it to a basic grocery store brand ice cream - sorta like how In-N-Out burger is good if you compare it to McDonald's. But are either one of them wonderful? No. Farrah Fawcett is hot if you're comparing her to your average Oklahoma chick who's two wine coolers away from taking her top off at a NASCAR race. But compared to Hollywood actresses? No.

Counselor, I will graciously disagree with you. I agree that Farrah was beautiful but not Academy Award material. I still like Blue Bell and prefer Whataburger to In-N-Out. Can football season get here fast enough?

One of the few things I miss about dfw after moving to east Texas is braums (ducking for cover)

And that spread Farrah did for playboy 25 years or so ago ...was gold

I'm just talking about hotness. Farrah wasn't that hot. She wasn't even the hottest woman on Charlie's Angels.

And Whataburger is definitely better than In-N-Out. Like I said before, In-N-Out is only good if you're comparing it to McDonald's or something comparable. And of course a place like Top Notch would mop the floor with them.

You get your rear down to Brookshire Brothers and get you some HyTop generic ice cream.

Whoa, Blue Bell Homemade Vanilla is the absolute best and the almond pistachio is up there with it. Hands down best.
Farrah, I’m too old to argue about that - never had the opportunity to try it but always thought she looked pretty good.

1000 points for acknowledging Top Notch. That's old school Austin. Austin has several good new hamburger places, Might Fine, Hopdoddy's, and P Terrys. But Top Notch is old school legit. I will see your Top Notch and raise you a Dan's and Fran's.

The guy who used to post as TxStHorn is a lawyer (about 8 years older than I am) who practiced on his own but leased office space from my boss. He was very generous and helped me whenever I needed it - even drove to Waco to help me try my first case.

Well, he had lived in Austin his whole life, and he told me all about Top Notch and their story. He often took me to lunch just to talk cases together, and when we got a craving for burgers, we went there.

The place blew me away. I loved the old school decor. I loved that the old lady who ran the place still took my order by hand and that while she did so, you could hear, see, and smell the burgers cooking over the grill. And of course, the final product was superb.

He also told me Dan's and Fran's were very good, but TN was his favourite and be knew Austin better than I, so I deferred to him. After I got married, I took Mrs. Deez there, and she loved it, so we always went there. I'm planning to visit in March. I should try Dan's or Fran's.

B&J is probably smarter than we credit them. They knew MSM would pick up on their 4th of July bad / Indians good comment. They also knew MSM would ignore the reply that the Coosuk Abenaki Nation would accept B&J's HQ land.

Dans and Frans were excellent back in the 80’s when I was in school.
