Those of you that remember Ben and Skin from The Ticket in Dallas might be interested in this.

105.3 switched to an all-sports format on Monday, and Ben and Skin are moving from the mid-day slot to the 3-7 slot.

Kevin Scott (also formerly of The Ticket) and Greg Hill (yep, the aggy) will take over the midday slot vacated by Ben and Skin. The station fired Russ Martin (thank goodness).

While I am a fan of B&S, this is a bad move for them, imo. There is no way they will be able to compete with The Hardline.

I'll still listen to them, but only when The Hardline is on commercial break...

I saw that. What's the deal with Russ though? Is it because of his girlfriend beatdown from a couple months ago? Why else would they fire the #1 rated show in town?

After seeing this yesterday I tuned in this morning, but did not hear any sports?

I tune out alot of things on the hardline, I'm not a cowboys fan so I have no use for the ranch report and other cowboys segments. And some hardline segments are wearing on me, like trifecta talk. Its just not funny anymore.

Tap the brakes "GatorDave", there are people that post here that don't know if Russ Martin would know anything about sports.

I was surprised they kept Russ Martin as long as they did after the assault. So if I were guessing it was probably until the legalities were worked out to fire him. Much like the ticket and Greggo.

Radio host Russ Martin fired from Live 105.3 FM

Top-rated radio host Russ Martin has been fired from Live 105.3 FM after the station changed its format to an all-sports station Monday afternoon, a CBS Radio general manager said.

The station will now be called 105.3 FM The Fan, centering primarily on sports talk radio, said David Henry, the station’s general manager. Nearly all the radio hosts were retained in the format change, except for the popular Mr. Martin.

Mr. Martin, no stranger to controversy during his seven-year tenure at the station, made headlines in July when he was arrested on three misdemeanor charges in connection with an argument with his girlfriend. Those charges are still pending, said Tim Powers, Mr. Martin’s attorney.

Russ Martin was ranked No. 58 this year among a radio industry trade magazine's list of the country's 100 most important talk show hosts.

“It was more about moving in the direction of sports,” Mr. Henry said.

Mr. Martin had owned the station’s 3 to 7 p.m. slot, but it will now be occupied by midday hosts Ben & Skin, according to a news release. Kevin Scott and former Texas A&M football player Greg Hill will take over the 10:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. slot, the new release said.

The Jagger Show will continue in the morning, Mr. Henry said.

The station notified employees about the change about 3 p.m. Monday as college fights songs played over the air, Mr. Henry said. He declined to say how Mr. Martin reacted to the news of his dismissal.

Mr. Martin could not be reached for comment.

“With what he has contributed to radio, I am sure he is going to be at some place sometime soon,” Mr. Powers said.

So JAgger is stil on in the morning. Used to listen to him some when he was on the Edge. Will give B&S a listen. What has Greg HIll Time bee up to?

Wasn't KScott in Austin for some time?

I have been a Ticket P1 for 15 years. However, Corby is pro-OU/anti-UT. Rhyner is pro-TAMU/anti-UT. Ben and Skin (who I have always enjoyed listening to) are pro-UT. I'll give them a pre-set and a shot at my drive time Priority 1.

I too have been a P1 for over 12 years and I'm done with the anti-UT show. Like Ryner says, I have options and I've decided to pursue those options.

I was a day 1 ticket fan but steadily lost interest after chris arnold, rocco and skip left. People love lists and they don't have enough now.

I have been a P1 as well, but Rocco, Skip, and Chris Arnold would be good reason to keep listening to the ticket.

heard some Ben and Skin this evening. Good change of pace from the ticket, they actually had a critical look at the Cowboys coaching staff, which is a pretty good move considering they're going up against the Cowboys flagship.

I think there's room enough for two allsports stations, maybe not three.

One thing they've got going for them is the Fan is sayijng they are interested in lots of phone calls from listeners, which the ticket has almost never done.

This should be good. Talking real sports during evening drive time vs. the hardline guy talk.

I have been switching back to the ticket during commercials the last couple of days. It has been a non-stop lovefest for all things OU- Bradford, Stoops, Switzer. There is a real opening for Ben and Skin if they take it.
