Just received this email from my favorite Belgian Bar:

Beer connoisseurs please take note. On Monday, July 21st from 11:30 AM until closing time at 11 PM, Brasserie Beck, is offering up 18 delicious Belgian draft beers, at 1/2 price, ranging from $3-$6 each, to toast Belgian Independence Day.

This one-day only celebration is Beer Specialist Bill Catron’s brainchild and the “knighted” beer expert is offering up the following beers:
1. Delirium Tremens;
2. Gouden Carolus Ambrio;
3. St. Louis Framboise;
4. Gouden Carolus Hopsinjour;
5. Gouden Carolus Tripple;
6. Gouden Carolus Classic D'or;
7. KasteelTripple;
8. Kasteel Donker;
9. Blanche des Bruxelles;
10. De Koninck;
11. Hoegaarden;
12. Leffe Brune;
13. Stella Artois;
14. Bavik;
15. Piraat;
16. Kasteel Rouge;
17. Brigand; and
18. Gulden Draak.

I'm looking forward to taking a sick day the following day!!

I can't say I have had any of those. With Inbev (?) buying AB shouldn't Bud be on that list?

Sorry El Guapo, Brasserie Beck is in Washington DC.

I'll have to give those a try in your honor since you can't be here.

If there was a Brasserie Beck in Buenos Aires, I'd call in sick on Tuesday the 22nd. (I get done at 1:30pm on Mondays, so no need to call in sick on Monday.

Beer here kind of blows ***.

The national beer is Quilmes and it is better than Budweiser in the States. (Not saying too much.)

Other common beers are:

Stella Artois
Budweiser
Heineken...

ALL
brewed here with local hops and all taste the same.

... like nada.

Brahma is here as well and even that might be brewed here. But Brahma generally blows, so either way it is a lose-lose.

You think that list is impressive, that is only small fraction of Belgian beers that they carry. Here's there 18 page beer menu:
Brasserie Beck Beer Menu. An added bonus is that their food is very very good. I'm reserving their chef's table this year for my birthday, can't wait. My girlfriend/fiancee and I usually show up an hour or more before our dinner reservation to make our way through the beer menu. They need to have a checklist on file for their customers. Love this place!!!!!
