Before we start getting all giddy....

Remember, we do have 4 games left, and from what I can tell some of them have just increased in difficulty.

Say what you will about aggy, but Nebraska is starting to impress me. They play solid, fundamental basketball, take what you give them, and are playing their best ball right now. From what I have seen Maric has really impressed me. Right now they look very simliar to OU....and we were all worried about that one. The game is at home, which helps a lot, but I see Nebraska as a team on the rise and a team that is finding themselves rigth now. Could be dangerous.

Oklahoma State. Again, it is a home game, but this team is DEFINATELY playing better. You don't beat Kansas without playing better. If memory serves, I think they have won 4 out 5 and like nebraska, they seem to be playing their best ball right now.

Finally, I am and will always be frightened to go into Lubbock. Weird stuff happens there. Tceh is still just 6-6 in the conference....plenty to play for. If they can have a good stretch run it is not out of the question to put them in bubble talk.

Obviously we have KSU on the mind and we SHOULD be worried about that one, but we aren't out of the woods after tomorrow night. I still think we are gonna come out flat at some point and drop a game.......I hope we don't, it's just a feeling.

Last, in case you haven't noticed none of the top 3 in the Big 12 (KU, KSU, or Texas) has lost a conference game at home, and off the top of my head I think the only home loss in the ENTIRE season was our sweet one point debacle against Wiscy. Oh, and we have a road trip to Manhattan tomorrow. Doooomed? The point is, while we are sitting pretty right now, still lots and lots of work left to do. Still need to finish it out strong.

We win tomorrow and I think we would have to drop two with the winner of ksu/ku winning out to lose the conference.

K-State (away), TTech (away), Nebraska (home), Okie State (home)

All four are arguably top 100 programs.

I'm happy with a 3-1 finish, ok with a 2-2 finish, disappointed with anything less.

I think you misunderstand the enthusiasm on this board right now. Yes, we may lose one of our last four games. But that still gets us the #1 seed in the conference tourny no matter what happens with other teams.

We are happy because of how well we are playing. We look like one of the best teams in the country. We are positioned to get #1 seed nationally and a #2 is all but locked up as long as we don't just go flat.

Enjoy the ride and remember a loss or two before the NCAA Tourny starts is not the end of the world.

The other teams may be getting better, but Texas is too. They have played national-championship level defense the last couple of games.

I agree with Bob.

For me, it is the defense.

I don't care who we play if we play defense like that.

If a team we play against beats us, good for them....but I am loving the defensive pressure we are finally putting on these other teams.

I don't know if Barnes was sand bagging this, or if these guys are finally in shape and rested enough to play that tight that long, or we are just getting better, or a combination of all of it....

But man, it is fun to watch right now.

Mason said himself that they have gotten much better on defense in the last few weeks. They have been more consistent, instead of playing good defense in spurts.

So, are you worried about the fans being giddy, or the team? If this team was to have read it's press clippings, don't you think it would have done so after the KU game? Maybe, after the butt whipping they laid on ATM?? Didn't seem to have a letdown against OU after all those impressive wins. Don't think you have to worry about that too much either. This team relies more on defense than on offense. I would be more worried if they were more of an offensive minded team. But have you noticed that we are still winning even when our top scorers are stinking up the joint? Where was AJ yesterday in the first half? Did it matter? Where was Augustine for about three weeks? Did it matter? This team is solid. Barnes doesn't accept mediocrity. See Damion James after the first ATM game.

3-1 finish is not great in my opinion

This team has the talent and capability to go 4-0 and ride a hot streak into the tourney

A 4-0 finish and a run into the semifinals of the tourney should lock up a #1 seed

3-1 and anything else in the tourney wil drop us to a #2 seed, which is still excellent for where this team stood a few weeks ago

You guys are right though, our defense is what takes us the distance, and is also what keeps us in games when we aren't shooting as well.
