Before this troll returns to his bridge, may I suggest this page toughen up. Go read the baseball page. We're upset at the tenuous victory at Hawaii tonight. Forecasting gloom and doom for the entire season! Oh, did I mention we're 5-3 and have a really solid starting rotation. I love it! That is what being a Longhorn fan is!

Drink less Kool-aid and start winning and you guys will see it can be so much more fun! Yea Horns!

This is always an interesting process to watch. When everyone talks in generalities (“we suck”, “this is an embarrassment”, “not to Texas standards”) you can’t even have a discussion. It’s like arguing religion. You just can’t argue faith. The haters bask in the knowledge that their beliefs are “honest” and anything else is simply delusional.

Note that LakeErieHorn talks about forecasting doom and gloom for the baseball team and “That is what being a Longhorn fan is.” Haters gonna hate. There is no point in arguing with them. They hate because it is what they enjoy, or at least a process that they enjoy. I don’t understand it, and I’m pretty sure that most haters don’t either. To each his own.

Just don’t act so surprised when you don’t get a lot of converts. Some people just don’t have it in them to see only the bad in every event, or the worst possible outcome for any set of circumstances. Some people actually enjoy looking for positives. Amazingly, some people actually see most things as something other than black and white, and are open to a real discussion.

Some people just love the sport and the competition. And, there is nothing wrong with that either, even if we are Texas.

I read other pages. I read other sites. I am quite familiar with the “tough love” message board types. For my part, I am no more impressed by the “doom and gloom” posters than I am the “sunshine pumpers”. I do however notice that it at least takes some imagination and thought to be a true sunshine pumper. I would welcome more real discussion on this board, both about what has gone wrong and what has gone well. But, from my experience on other pages and sites I don’t think “toughen up” is what I would personally be hoping for……..however, I welcome other opinions.
