Unlike other stable conferences, the Big 12 created by design a weak commissioner with no power to rein in renagade members. Typical, with its penchant for dysfunction, the haves in the conference want the abilty to manage the commissioner. WIthout structural change, not much else will.

other conferences were working deals to acquire new revenue streams and new network deals and he did nothing. The lack of a new tv deal caused friction within the conference. he was offered a deal by espn a few years ago and passed. the big 10 got the deal.

Dan Beebe did not get equal revenue sharing for the Big 12. That is the whole reason this league is dysfunctional. And now, that is why he is gone.

Tack Beebe's package on TAMU's exit fee. They stirred up this crapfest to start with.

Neinas is guarded about his age per the Sporting News. What the heck is that? He worked for the NCAA in 1961 - 50 years ago. He has seen a lot of changes during his career and maybe he can provide a little wisdom which is sorely needed.

I guess this Beebe firing is the sure sign that OU stays for sure and the B12 will continue with 9 or 10 or 11 or 12 teams.

According to DeLoss Dodds, the ADs proposed equal Tier 1 and 2 revenue sharing in the spring to the conference Presidents but they never voted on it.

TAMU wanted a guaranteed $20M...which is unequal Rev Sharing.

Beebe resigns and now the Presidents can vote in equal revenue sharing of Tier 1 & 2 so everyone is happy and OU gets public concessions.

That recent 5 yr extension to Beebe's contract should be a good golden parachute.
