How do you go about doing this? I've seen the 1-800-Bartend ads, but it doesn't seem like that would get you much farther as it gives the impression they turn out choad bartenders.
So how would someone go about becoming a bartender?
Why would you want to? But if you just have to: learn good BS, be prepared to deal with a bunch of drunks, and know how to make all the drinks and make them fast. You can learn how to make any drink on this medium.
jt would be the one to ask about this. don't know if he comes to this site much anymore
the guys I know who've done it all just kind of did it, started by waiting tables and then tending at a restaurant, or working the door or as a barback at a club/bar and learning as you go.
this is a great job if you are young, not so much if you are close to the settling down stage of life. You can bang lots of young hot chicks, but aren't going to encounter anybody who's relationship material, and even if you do y'all's work schedule will be exactly opposite.
Also I'd say you have a 50-50 shot of becoming an alcoholic. Drunks always want to buy you a shot to drink w them.
I'm 31. I'm a bartender. It's 3:15am on a Thursday night and I'm **** housed reading hornfans. I have a lot of cash in my wallet and will sleep til 2pm tomorrow before I go to work at 3pm and do it all over again. Look for something else to do with your life. Trust me.
Bartending was a great time for me in college. I just started working in a small restaurant where I started as a host. Then I had experience and moved to a bigger restaurant. I liked restaurants because I could clean the bar and be done by midnight and still have a couple of hours to do my own drinking.
Cash is nice to have.
Don't pay anyone to teach you the silly drink sayings: Seabreeze is a Very Cold Gust -- Vodka, Cranberry and Grapefruit. You can figure all that **** out for yourself with a book.
