Not much talk here of 17-year old Californian (correct?) Beau Hossler, who is tied for the lead at -1, thru 12 (Fri) at the U.S. Open.

He did have the lead but dropped into a tie.

He's wearing a white visor cap with script Texas, and is on his way here on scholarship.

The youngest winner at age 19, did so in 1911.

I think it's very cool!

Add in the South African who is joining and this is a powerful team next year whether Spieth returns or not and if Jordan does return a clear pre-season number one.

I saw the Longhorn on his right sleeve but what was on his left.

How great was all the Pub given to the Horn Gold team during the telecast

Spieth is playing well, also, he is +7, I believe.
I always have mixed feelings about these tournaments, because if the amateur does really well, he might drop out and turn pro. I'd like to see them complete their college careers.

Bob Costas... live on today's coverage... a few minutes ago... did not know Beau was already a commit to UT. As he and his co-host were talking about it, and the co-host was saying he's already a commit... Costas asked if this was a breaking news item (as if just now finding out). Had to laugh.

A good read:The Link

Looks like Hossler will graduate early to join the team Spring '13 and Jordan Spieth not turning pro just yet?? Good news all around!!

Love the mention of Hossler's godfather flashing the Hook'em Horns sign!

I liked seeing Hossler in his UT shirt and visor on the last day of the tournament. He got all the attention from the media, and became a big story, but Spieth ended up being the low amateur at the U.S. Open, which no one seemed to notice.
