Beating Texas a given for Missouri

Ok I'm listening to the Missouri game on Saturday and the announcers are talking about the rest of the season and how this should play out. According to the Announcers the conference is all about them and Oklahoma. When they did mention Texas it was about how our pass rush and young secondary will not handle the missouri offense.

They didn't talk about how their defense matches up to the Texas offense or how they had to do this in Austin.

I know Texas is flying under the radar but it is silly for them to just assume they are going to beat a team they haven't beaten in the Mack Brown era.

The less people talk about Texas, the better. Missouri is very talented but I think the game in Austin will mark Texas's 2nd signature win in as many weeks

Ain't.Gonna.Happen.

Bill in Sinton will be there at the game, sitting next to me, so all FOCUSNESS will be in DKR. MAXIMUM FOCUSNESS will be gained by all. The force will be with the Horns.

Shhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh, its OK. Let them think that. Hopefully they'll keep moving up and up in the polls and then POWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW!

If we can beat Mobilehoma then it will be something like a 2-3 or 3-4 match up.

missouri is good. texas will be salty at home. there are no gimme games in the big 12 this year (maybe atm, but not even that for you guys).... and to act like playing AT texas is a gimme game is absurd.

Let them continue to think that.

I'll feel much better if we don't give up 250-300 yards passing to Rice, Arkansas and Colorado each game. But as long as we continue to give up only 10-14 points each game I like our chances against anybody. I know we'll give up more than that to OU and Mizzou, but I don't think they'll keep us to that level either.

We will be the best Offense either of those teams will have played to that point. Mizzou is giving up quite a bit of mileage on D too.

Not so fast my friend!

Horns D and young secondary will have 6 games under their belt by the time of the Mizzou game. I think that will help some vs. where they are after 2 games. Me thinks MusCAMP will have some serious D looks and pressure for Daniel to deal with. They will get some points, but it won't be like that track meet with Directional Missoura or Nevada Wolf Shirts. Mizzou D is solid but will have some trouble stopping the Horns O.

I look for a high scoring game the Horns win at home

Less talk is good because it keeps Texas with a constant chip on their shoulder. The defense has 3 games to tune their weaknesses and yes, I have grumbled on my couch when our young secondary gets lit up but we have to remember that this time last year they were all in high school or red shirting. I am optimistic that their play will improve and only get better. I would love for a few teams in front of Texas stumble and let Texas move up and Tech as well.

That would give Texas 3 games with potential top 10 match ups. If Texas can win out.... I don't care what USC does with sub par competition and an overrated Ohio State victory... that would be a true BCS tittle resume over any other team in the top 10. Go Horns !!! Stay Focused!!! and play Hard !!!

Without injuries to key players on either team at this point I gotta go with the Longhorns. High scoring game, but the Texas defense will slow the Mizzou O down. Mizzou's D cannot stop the Horns in an away game. At Mizzou I still think the Horns would win, but it would be closer. DKR is gonna be rockin'. (Horn's will just kill Mizzou next season) Mark that. Bring 'em on. Teams tend to get cocky when they don't play Oklahoma or Texas.

I don't know about high scoring. I would prefer that we reel off a series of long, slow, grinding drives, that eat up the clock and wear down their defense. Their offense is very good, and should have the ball for as little time as possible. Once their D spends a half or so backing up, then we sould be able to put them away, at least that's how it plays out in my version of reality.

Keep it quiet is right. We'll see how they do in front of 98,000 loud fans. Hopefully we can disrupt their no-huddle, audible crap.

Is it possible for the #7 team in the nation to "fly under the radar?"

Hope so. I'm also hoping for a night game on ESPN, with 10,000 more fans in the north EZ making things difficult for Mr. Daniel.

Missouri has a huge chip on their shoulder because they won the North last year and didn't get a BCS game and Kansas did. They feel like they get no respect, and are out to run it up on everyone. They have a good team, but we could have put more points on FAU and UTEP if we had not pulled the starters.

Our pass rush does need to improve and as they do, our secondary will improve as well. I think that the early bye week will help, and not having a week off to get cold before rolling into Big XII play will be to our advantage. Rice is also better than usual, not good enough to be a threat but they will keep our attention.

If we can beat OU and MIssouri, we will be #2 in the country behind a really tough USC team. If we split, we should stay in the top 10. Lose both, and we fall out of the top 25.

Let's not forget we need to concentrate on Rice this week. There will be time to concentrate on Missouri soon. Let's let Missiouri be the one to count their chickens before they are hatched. Remember Bull Run!

The scoreboard of the Red River Shootout will determine the tone for the Texas Defense when we come home to play MU.

The outcome of the MU game will set the tone for the second half of our regular season.

It will be a very big game for both teams, to be sure.

I think the key to is Missouri is constant, relentless pressure on Chase Daniel. Keep him out rhythm and make him work his way slowly downfield. He appears to get anxious.

He will complete passes, but he gets very frustated when he doesn''t feel like he is playing 7 on 7.

If you make them work for their scores they get less effective as the game goes on. Their offense sucks when inside the 10. In OU's last 2 of 3 victories they have had big goal line stands. They can't line up and make a yard against a good defense, they just aren't designed for that.
