Come on guys ... I realize the Sweet 16 is tonight, but I was expecting to see some #13 Texas v #19 Huskers talk this morning.Nebraska is 19-3, and is no joke. Our primary Big XII baseball rival is here for probably our biggest home series of '08.
Leaving work at 1:30 for The Disch. I'm hopeful for a series win, and would be thrilled with that ... but if the Bad News Bears show on the infield, all bets are off.

Excited to see if any roster/infield moves are made for today. Hook 'em.

Friday

Kasparek v Johnny Dorn ... 2-0, 1.57 (NU veteran)

Saturday

Boening v Thad Weber ... 4-1, 4.15

Sunday

Wood v Aaron Pribanic ... 2-0, 1.44

Lot's of familiar players still on their squad too ... Sullivan, Nimmo, Abeita, Mort, Opitz (gotta be a 13th year SR), Sowers, Tezak, etc.

It's gonna be a war ...

how has Nebraska fared against Texas in Omaha. whether during the regular season or college world series?

jess sayin'

meh

Nebraska's had a nice 8 or 9 year run, but they still have done nothing on the national stage. Although it was good to see them get that first CWS win in '05 to improve their record to 1-6 in Omaha.

Garrido vs. Nebraska: 17-20

We have GOT to work on that. Hopefully KK is going to start the series off right with a good outing. Hopefully a few runs early will rattle Dorn enough to give up some big base hits.

My GOD, is that an OSU fan that's talking trash about NU baseball? A fan of that team in Stoolwater?

Try getting to a CWS in the 2000s sometime before talking trash.

With apologies to the great Michael Buffer....

This isn’t the first time NU has been hot to start the season, and this won’t be the last time NU’s season will end with a loss. And it sure as hell won’t be the first time that’s happened—call it a tradition of regular-season excellence. Or call it the result of hating everyone else in the conference, believing that conference wins are synonymous with national relevance, and then thinking that a great record matters when the regionals/super regionals/Omaha come around.

Couple that with the fact that NU players have had a tendency to hate Texas in particular, and it’s no wonder they play out of their minds when Texas is the opponent.

And NU baseball fans? ****, please, they’re football fans who just want to go scream about someone wearing red. The pitcher throws to first? That’s a balk. The pitcher nods for the sign? Balk. Sneeze? Balk. And most of them don’t care if it’s Texas, aTm, Tech, Baylor, or Cougar High—if a team is from Texas, that’s enough to act like Colorado football fans when NU goes to Boulder. Or Kansas State fans all year. One ******* even tried to pick a fight with my mom at a baseball game in Lincoln a few years ago, but go ahead and tell me about how classy NU fans are, how they’re all so nice, and how they’re as good at losing as they are at winning.

So, yeah, NU is hot right now. Good for ******* them, but pardon me for not giving a **** until they do something outside of the Big 12.
