It's a little known fact that while Oklahoma was known for it's early American "Sooners", the Missouri population, as early as 1855, was known for extensive trading of goods amongst settlers and with native Indian tribes of the day. Missouri was set in 1905 to name their mascot "Traders" but the chancellor at the time, Johnson T. Bartholomew, had developed a fondness for tigers after a month long Safari in east Africa and the rest is history.

Bravo to the OP for picking up on this little known tidbit of Missouri history.

Good lord the game is a late tip. Not at all certain which team that favors. But Texas does have 6th street so maybe the upper-classman know how to bring their games late night?

I have to say no way we beat Mizzu, right? Again, it'll be a road game. I just hope Barnes can coach his *** off and whip his old assistant, so that we at least pass eye test with selection committee. I'll need to change my shorts should Texas win tonight, and if they do, not one drop of nerves about Sunday. It is right there for the taking, in a manner of speaking anyway.

We know we can play them tough we already have have twice. We could have - should have - split the season series and we'll probably have the weight of the BIG 12 fans behind us for this one.

Chapman playing well early and staying out of foul trouble. We're playing well and playing hard, but Missouri is a really good team. 28-22 Tigers with ~7 to go. Texas not shooting as well as Missouri but being better on the glass is keeping it close for us.

Nice block by Jalen Bond there. Refs letting both teams play and being consistent, which is nice. Missouri's been hot but then they got too 3-point happy and only made 1 of 6 after starting 5 for 9, I believe. We were down double digits but J'Covan Brown and Myck Kabongo came on strong late and it's 32-39 at halftime.

Missouri is just too quick and shoots too well for this Texas team. Chapman missing 9 out of 12 shots hasn't helped either.

While we're in "**** ____" mode, I have been against conference football championships, and conference basketball tournaments, since day one.

****'em. They are the biggest 'waste game' of the season for either sport.

In basketball...
a) They force multiple games back-to-back on successive days.
b) They come a week before NCAA play begins.
c) They are about a conference that has already decided positions.
d) They wear out legs that are at the end of a long season.
and because of worn-out legs, you run the risk of... the last thing:
e) They risk injuries from playing aggressively in short turn-around games on tired legs.

I'd feel better, win or lose, if Texas was not afraid to take a shot.
Too many passes and movements to work the ball into traffic that can't be handled.
Then you end up with a lower-percentage shot.

Meanwhile, Missouri continues to take, and make, 3s, all night. Not afraid to shoot.

I admire a team that just shoots the damn ball. Our team is really not suited to working the ball inside. Best I can tell.
