beach and golf

Looking for a place to go in January that has a good beach and good golf. Would like to stay in the US- so Florida or California seems to be best bet. Money not a concern.

Recommendations for a resort that has both would be appreciated. Thanks!

LaJolla
Sanibel
Turnberry

Or Playa if you leave US

My preference would be The Harbor Beach Marriott in Ft Lauderdale. 16 acres with private beach. No golf, but the concierge can set you up at several local courses.

Funny. I'm staying at Harbor Beach Marriott next week for business. Any recommendations on food or bars close by? I will need things to do at night.

Not really. I have always enjoyed Shooters on the canal. It's a couple of miles north on the Atlantic side of the canal down around Commercial. I usually do lunch there, particularly on weekends. Lots of scenery.

If the 15th Street Fishery is still open, AVOID! Worst seafood I've ever had. Fish was frozen in the middle. Another fish was so spoiled, I told the waiter if he put it on the table, I'd throw his *** in the Intercoastal. We could smell it 10 feet away.

If you have time, go to Joe's Stone Crab in Miami Beach. First restaurant in Miami Beach. You can get there without the traffic nightmare that is South Beach. Take 95 through downtown and across the bay to Washington. Turn right and it''s a few blocks on the right where Washignton deadends.

Wait will be 3 hours if go too late.

The concierge at the Harbor Beach is really helpful with food. Several years ago, they wanted to send me to a hideous place where I had previously had bad food and worse service. I told them. They told me that they would have my bill sent to the hotel. If I did not enjoy my experience, they would pay. If I liked the restaurant, they'd put it on my bill.

There is a good restaurant on the canal (northwest corner) at Commercial or the next bridge north. Seating is terraced - expensive but worth it. Concierge will know.

If you want really good dump, one block east of Hwy 1 on 17th street, north of 17th on right side and end of strip center. Little place seats about 10 and does mostly takeout seafood - really good and cheap.

I highly reccommend the Hilton SanDestin in Destin, FL. I can't speak to how good the golf is, but it looks pretty and the beach is amazing. Sandestin is a great resort, too. Not too too touristy

Golf at SanDestin is very good. Raven and Burnt Pines are first-class courses.

My only concern would be January weather. Destin can be cool to cold in the winter. Probably safer heading further south.

iamtw nails it on Destin. Weather in January is a crap shoot but it is about 99% certain it will be too cold to do beach activities.
