Kansas City, MO – The BCS has completed its takeover of the NCAA Men’s Basketball Playoffs this weekend. Effective with this year’s postseason, the BCS will set the Final Four in San Antonio and will sponsor 128 bowl matches throughout the month of April. The Final Four will be delayed until May.
“Through negotiations with FOX, we secured a BCS Playoff system in college basketball,” said BCS Commissioner Mike Slive. “For the first time ever, you will see the best four teams as determined by coaches, a hodge-podge of former players and coaches and a hodge-podge of computer models.”
In a complex arrangement, FOX traded The Simpsons Franchise & American Idol to CBS for the rights of the NCAA men’s basketball postseason tournament known previously as March Madness. FOX announced the new system to be Capitol One Madness.
The NCAA has yet to ratify the new playoff. Said NCAA President Miles Brand, “We just learned about this when you called us. We will need a special investigation scheduled for this fall.”
If the Final Four were set now, Duke, North Carolina, Kansas & UCLA would be the Final Four participants. They would have 50 days after their conference tournaments before the Taco Cabana Final Four starts in April.
Texas, Memphis, Tennessee, Wisconsin, Stanford, Georgetown, Xavier & Louisville would qualify for the BCS Bowl Matches. Texas is set to play Louisville in the Toyota Center Basketball Bowl Match in Houston, Texas on April 19th.
“By expanding the tournament from 64 to 260 teams, it allows more coaches and teams to feel good about themselves and end the season on a high note with a victory,” said ESPN analyst Jay Bilas. “It also ensures that the regular season matters and rewards teams like Duke, who do better in the regular season.”
“Unfairly, Duke typically gets upset in this whimsical tournament, where they are forced to play away from Cameron. Now, we’ll get a Final Four that matters and won’t get stuck with teams that choose to play their games late at night when the East Coast sleeps.”
New ESPN analyst Bobby Knight could not be reached for comment because his head exploded.
