BBQ-Luling?

the best bbq in the world and not just luling, happens to be in luling

its city market

i'd go light on the brisket and load up on the sausage and the pork ribs, which are are delivered from outer space, they are that good

i drive there for lunch from my office in austin regularly and still would if it was another 50 miles away

City Market is my all time favorite, and I'm not just referring to barbecue restaurants....

my post yesterday prompted me to go for lunch today with a friend, who thankfully drove, because i passed out on the way back to austin from my foodgasm

between the two of us, at the pit: 6 ribs off the short end (always order it that way), 2 links, pound of brisket, white bread, 2 whole pickles, onion slice, and 2 japs: $15. at the counter: 2 shiners, 2 pintos, $4. we ripped them off

i usually stay away from the brisket there as it is the weakest item there, but today it was some of the best i have ever had. ever. brought a pound back. i can't believe a place that good exists in the world

Some of the best bbq on the planet. Don't pass up the chance to stop there if you are anywhere close. And, if you figure out how to make their sauce, email me.

Last time I was there- on the way to the coast- I walked out with $75 worth of brisket, ribs, links, pintos, and potato salad. And, that was after I had some ribs for good measure, while waiting for my order.

We ate very, very well that night.

There is something perverse but very rewarding about a meat coma that good cue puts a man into. Had mine the other day from Cooper's but I very much want to try this galactic rib place in Luling.

How is their loin? I think my two favorite things in bbq is pork loin and pork ribs. I came up with this in the meat coma.

If you go to Luling, order way too much. Wrap up the rest and bring it home. The next morning, when you open your fridge to find leftover brisket, pull that **** out, scramble it into some eggs, and make the most awesomest breakfast tacos on the planet. Then for dessert, have some ribs and sausage. I won't judge you if you also wash it down with a cold beer at 9am.

Breakfast of champions.

c.l., city market does not serve pork loin. they only serve brisket, sausage, and pork ribs. i had the last of the leftover brisket this morning for breakfast.

cooper's is probably my second favorite place, but to me they are really different.

Ah. So no loin. I will have other things then. Cannot wait to try it out.
