Baylor looks TERRIBLE!!!

Was it me or did BU look like the worst team we've played all year? The first game -- with BU's 7 errors and numerous other mental mistakes -- was almost comical a couple of times. And from what could listen to and read about, Saturday's game wasn't altogether much better.

They've lost 7 conference games in a row now and 9 of their last 10. The posters on Baylorfans.com are about to explode with rantings about a new coach,etc.

How does a team get that low that fast?

Anyone have predictions about Steve Smith's future there?

I was wondering the same thing myself about Steve Smith's future...this is two years in a row that his team has drastically underachieved.

They are still a very talented, and they play NU this weekend so they have a shot to get a sweep and build some momentum back heading into the Postseason.

3 of my siblings went to BU, and two of them (the males) are not very pleased with Baylor's baseball team--dont know what's up with them right now

My son is good friends with there first baseman Dickerson who says is just shaking his head.

Baylor has some help coming. Zack Dodson from Medina Valley had 18 strikeouts against Uvalde, and hit 2 home runs. Not often you see all 21 outs by strikeout.The Link

But from what I've read about them, this isn't a talent-pool issue. Hell, to hear the BU fans talk, they've had a couple of great recruiting classes...

3 years ago I believe they had the #1 ranked recruiting class in the county if I am not mistaken. This would be most of their junior class unless for redshirts or someone that may have left.

If you guys can come up with the answer, since we're no threat to take anybody's regional away from them. Hell, we may not be a threat to take anybody's spot in the field of 64 from them.

If you can figure it out, let me know. Those of us who have been long time fans are also scratching our heads.

Bottom line, I DON'T think Smitty's job is in danger THIS year, but if we miss out on the post season, then the wolves will be out in force to make next year a make/break year as with Johnson two years ago at TAM.

And as for the voices on our bfans board, the loudest and most often critics of Smitty are blowhards. Every board has them.

Probably the best poster we've got is one of our recent lettermen who keeps reminding us that coaches get WAY too much credit for winning and WAY too much criticism for losing. Ergo our 7 errors vs. you guys last Friday night.

But we are a very insecure team with absolutely no confidence on the mound, in the field, and except for about 4 bats, at the plate.

BUProf - what happened to Ryan Jenkins? I believe he was from CyFalls and was part of the recruiting class 3 years ago. I asked on the Baylor board but no one ever responded.

I don't recognize/remember that name. I KNOW he never showed on campus if he was one of our recruits since most of the guys end up in my classes.

But then "absent-minded prof" is my REAL name, so he might have been our recruit and I just don't remember it. So, all I can say is he never enrolled.
