I think we'll take them. Aranda is well known for his D, but this year's Baylor O is really lighting up the scoreboard. Here's a few sobering bullet points:
  • The Bears average 8.7 more points per game (38.3) than the Longhorns surrender (29.6)
  • The Bears average 36.1 more yards per game (471.0) than the Longhorns allow per contest (434.9).
This would be a good day for Coach K and the D to step up to the plate (wrong sport, I know...) and perform like a Texas D should! Saturday will market the 111th meeting between the two team, with the Longhorns leading the series 79-27-4. Texas won the most recent matchup in 2020, taking down the Bears 27-16 in Austin. ESPN currently gives us a 53.7% chance of winning on Saturday.

Here are some early thoughts from the "experts":

Docs: Briles, staff buried player misbehavior

"Art Briles, Baylor assistants kept players' misbehavior under wraps, legal documents reveal"

"...Briles and his coaching staff created a disciplinary "black hole" into "which reports of misconduct such as drug use, physical assault, domestic violence, brandishing of guns, indecent exposure and academic fraud disappeared."

"In one alleged gang rape incident in 2013, Briles was shown a list of players a victim had identified. “
These are some bad dudes. Why was she around those guys?” Briles is quoted in the filing as saying."
WTF WTF WTF WTF!!!

We've long been known as a sort of Bohemian, anything goes, party school (that also happens to have really good academics), so UT has never really done the holier than thou sort of stuff--because we know we're not...
This matchup, however, has a tinge of good vs. evil.
Baylor belongs in a two-team conference with Penn State--their only true peer to date.

PS - none of this Baylor feces belongs to Aranda--a good guy as far as I know.

I hope that the two weeks in between games has our guys healing and ready for the fight. We have to keep our offense on the field and give our defense the rest it needs to get through 4 quarters. I believe we can win the rest of the games on our schedule. The team just has to continue to fight and not ease up.

Baylor kind of reminds me of... well... us. At least the 2021 edition.

They seem to click when Bohanon is on, but similar to Casey, he has his share of oopsies or moments where the ball is over/under-thrown. They try to out-talent people at WR and do a decent job of it, like when Worthy or Moore make plays for us.

Their defense has moments where they seem like they would light up anyone on the opposite side, and then give up an 80-yard play the next. I have an inkling that their fans get just as frustrated with how they play up or down to the competition. But their overall ranking is far better than ours. I think ours improves as we play the least productive teams in our conference.

We're also in a dead heat for how we both rush the ball.

We need the offense to show up and play complimentary football too!
Scoring a lot of points would be excellent, but controlling the clock a little and not turning the ball over would be sufficient.

The hallmark of Texas football for the last 10 years has been that if one side of the ball steps up, the other side sabotages them (with a little help from special teams) They often change roles from one week to the next. Sometimes even at halftime.

So I would not be surprised for the offense to play well, in order for the defense to embarrass themselves.

Sorry to be downer. Sarkisian hasn't showed me anything has changed yet.
However pursuant to our .675 record we have been clinging too for a decade, we should win and cement ourselves as thoroughly average still.
How is that for optimism? Better?

Either way, my Saturday will be nice. I'll be out fixing up my deer blinds and putting out corn.

We must stop their run.
Period.

If the defense plays sound, gap control football, and each LB stays in their gap. Texas will look like a different defense! Sounds, coming from Sark directly, like Texas has not played consistently sound in terms of gap control. O Line same thing, guys are blocking the wrong guy too much and letting someone leak into the backfield unblocked. That is what they focused on in the bye week. Everyone worry about their responsibilities and the team will win as a team. So far, they are doing that until the 4th quarter. This game will depend on how they play in the 4th quarter.

Texas should win by 7 to 14 points!

I just appreciated the simplicity of it.
The heart's of (most) every fan...
"I think we'll win this one"

It's kind of like "We're #1"

In fact, I like it. Maybe we should just stick to that, since things have gotten so messy and complicated for us lately.
From now on...
We"re #1!
That is all

Jaylan Ford needs more playing time against Baylor. He did a great job filling in for overshown last game. We need his speed and aggressiveness.
