Bayless/Smith on Josh Hamilton

I'll admit I've not had the stomach to begin to listen to them on ESPN; I fear that any dialogue that's headlined something about how good he could have been without substance abuse is not going to sit well.

I am at least hoping that they touch on the angle of how handling and overcoming substance abuse may play a part in how good he is today; not how much better he might have been if there had been no abuse, for we'll never know.

GO, HAMILTON - and GO, RANGERS!!!!!

Skip Bayless fills an important role. Listen to him when you want to know how you would feel about an issue if you were a total douchebag. Funny thing is when he first started as a sports columnist and loved sports more than his own opinions he was a terrifically entertaining writer.

Bayless is a douche, but I'll say this in his favor:

Years ago when I was covering the Byron Nelson in Irving, I had very little idea about how to cover a golf tournament. I don't play golf and never followed it. I was in the press tent and he struck up a conversation and offered me some good advice for covering the tourney.

So he was a nice douche that day.

Speaking of Johh Hamilton, Tuesday's line. five ABs, 4HRs and a double off the wall -- 18 total bases. Talk about your ERA wrecker.

The only thing that could slow down Hamilton happened tonight.....rain! DH on Thursday at 3.

Re: What? Is it Summer's Eve day on ESPN?

Probably. And, all in a good-natured way, I'd expect someone with ...anne in their name to be better qualified to distinguish good from bad douches for us.
