BATTING

Fielding was below average last year if I recall. I hope there is improvement this year.

In the field, we'll be better at 2B, LF, and maybe at 3B.

Hopefully, we get better at C. Defensively, we were very average at Catcher last year, and we're used to having an All-Conference sort of Catchers at this program. Maybe Galvan continues to improve. It's not that he's bad defensively, just very average. And fans above 25 years old or so sneer at that catching on 1 knee stance. Maybe Service develops into our starter sometime this year. He's a very good athlete. He had a nifty play at the plate for an out during the alumni game. I also expect his bat will develop into one of the better bats in our lineup--not necessarily this year, he's a Sophomore.

Then there's Chamberlain--that dude can certainly bat well.

We bashed Ole Miss, with a whopping 10 runs!!! Ole Miss won a National Championship in baseball just a few years ago.

Our batting lineup is fearsome.

This stellar batting lineup just hung 14 runs on Okla State!

We're averaging over 8 runs per game.

What a batting lineup!!!

I'm predicting this year will be a very wild ride. The team is clearly better than last year already, but with SEC play and 14 top 25 teams in the conference we will all need to keep some sanity and not get caught up in every win or loss assuming we have more wins than losses in conference play. Having a conference losing record is never ok.

Just get into the tournament. All bets are off then.
