Batman: DKR

In this case DKR does not, of course, stand for our beloved icon. Anyway, saw it today and I must say I got major, and I mean big-***, goosebumps when (don't worry, no spoiler here) Commissioner Gordon touched the flare to the "fuse" on the frozen river. Right when he did that I knew what we were about to see. Haven't had piloerection (no, that is not a dirty word) like that since watching the rerun of Texas-USC and seeing Vince take it in with 19 seconds to go.

Major props to Christopher Nolan; no way he could have topped himself (Dark Knight
with Heath Ledger set the bar too high) but, man, he came damn close.

I feel you on that flare scene ... holy crap.

The entire movie was epic. The ending was great.

My only gripe was that i couldn't understand multiple lines from Bane. I never picked up on at least 5 lines from him.

Nolan did a great job and has really taken the comic book movie to another place with his trilogy. But I was a bit disappointed in this one from the last one. The Dark Knight just seemed to have a feel about it that this one didn't.

Great movie. My only complaint was the Darth Vaderesque voice for Bane. Should have gone something more original. And they never took off his mask.

I loved the cool 90 degree turns with the bike. That was just ******* hot.

Anne Hathaway also did a really nice job with the Selina Kyle role. She also looks great in the "cat suit", especially on the bike.

Gordon-Levitt has come a long way since his 3rd rock days. He was great in this movie.

Agree on Bain's voice - I thought it might have been the accoustics in the theater, but his words definitely could have been enhanced or somehow cleaned up.

I also agree on the flare scene... very cool!!! The last hour or so was one giant goose-bump moment. It will be interesting if someone takes up the series after Nolan, or whether they would make any subsequent movies a new story arc.

There were a couple of things that some people have gotten hung up on, but I think it does depend on whether you can get caught up in the bigger flow of the story. Yes, Catwoman being able to drive the tumbler with full effects and no practice was ridiculous. And the cops storming the machine guns made for great video but a lot of dead cops! And yes, Batman didn't get enough screen time even though I think the story sort of dictated that. And no, Tom Hardy did not match Heath Ledger as the Joker and Bain is not as cool a villain - but anyone who expected differently was being unrealistic I think.

But all in all I thought it was a more satisfying ending than I was prepared to see.

Enjoyed the midnight showing with about 20 other friends, even if it meant being dead tired for a drive out to West Texas the following day.

This movie was really dark. Most of the time in the middle and towards the end, we kept waiting for something good to happen but it never came, but the best is always saved for last.

How did I forget how hot Anne Hathaway was? My goodness staying up for the midnight premiere, being tired the next day, and paying $13 for a ticket was worth seeing her in that catwoman outfit, especially when she's riding the batbike.

Horrible coming out of the theater only to hear about what happened in Colorado.

Spoiler Alert:

Who were the two guys that helped Batman when Bane took him to the the prison pit?? I know they mentioned one or both worked for the league of shadows but I may be wrong.

Loved the movie but I thought Dark Knight was better.

SPOILER (attempt at answering question above) SPOILER

I am taking a guess and it does not answer your question but I don't think they were part of the League. They were just old timers there who were around when Bane and "somebody else" was there. Maybe they felt guilt over what was happening, maybe felt resentment towards Bane, I don't know. But to my recollection they were not part of the League.

The other two, not mentioning names beyond Bane, were.

SPOILER ALERT

There are a few somber scenes in the movie that made l00p cry. So be prepare for it. That poor bastard, my shirt was soaked after the movie because he ran out of tissues.

And for the record, it was my sinuses and allergies. Not the somber scenes...for the most part.

I'm going to assume no spoiler alert needed at this point.
I recall in my lost youth Robin only series comics. Perhaps the franchise might redirect accordingly. The ending is certainly almost intentionally open for that.
