I know we are all down right now and there's a long time until next season, but there's an incredible team on campus right now. I know we are a 'football school', but the 14-0 and #2 ranked basketball team really deserves our support and attention. I'm posting this because I know many simply don't pay any attention to basketball, but they are more than living up to their preseason hype, and I'd say are the most fun UT basketball team to watch ever. Legitimate national title contenders with lots of scoring, defense and as Jay Bilas put it, really play with an edge. This isn't an ad, but rather a plea to really get behind these guys. They've already beaten two top ten teams handily.
 
Agreed, let's finish better than #2 in one sport this year.

I love our basketball team! I feel sorry for horn supporters that don't follow basketball and have to wait until September to see our football team again. Come on Hornfans we have 2 1/2 months of great basketball to watch!! Go Horns!!!!
 
Agreed. The basketball team is nasty, and fun to watch. Get behind them as they are a national title contender. Also, don't forget the preseason No. 1 baseball team. Great time to be horn fan. Hookem!
 
I don't see how you can make it through the off-season without getting into our basketball and baseball squads. Football took us to the very last game of the year. NFL playoffs and national signing day get you into February, March Madness takes care of March, then our baseball team's annual run to Omaha will get you into June.

I am guessing that there are very, very few schools that have won football, baseball and basketball national championships. Let's be one of them.
 
I want to add to Owl's post...

Since winning 3 NCs in 2005, we have been on a NC drought.

We have been runners-up in M Tennis, M Swimming (twice), Baseball, Volleyball, and now Football. I know most schools would love to be in our shoes, but that's at least 6 title games/series/meets in a row that we have lost in, so it would be nice to end this drought.

Not to mention after historically owning the sec in baseball and football, we have now lost to them in both recent title games.

On a brighter note, this has been an incredible season for Longhorn sports, and we have 3 more legitimate shots at a NC with M Basketball (#2), M Swimming (#1), and Baseball (#1), along with a couple of other top 10-ranked teams.

Winning the basketball title would end two droughts, giving us our first basketball title and first overall title since 05, in addition to giving us the rare trifecta for one school.

So let's cheer on our other teams because this amazing season in Longhorn sports is far from over.

Then the World Cup is in July. Before we know it we'll be hearing about fall practices again.

Being on campus in the mid-80's makes me so enjoy what we've got going on right now. Students: You don't know how good you have it. Enjoy the hell out of it and fill up The Drum (do they still call it that?)
 
In case you football boys didn't realize, KU went down tonight in hoops, which means Horns will likely be No. 1 for the first time ever in our program come Monday! Go support the team.

Those who don't follow and support the UT basketball team are the mega losers. This program is topnotch. I'm sick of hearing how Austin and UT are a "football" town and university. Okay...that may be true but this town ought to be going nuts over this basketball team as well as the past several squads. They are a blast to watch. Just think UT basketball...most likely #1 in the country!!! Enjoy it as long as it lasts...this team has a whole lot of potential.
